Trade buzz around St. Louis Blues forward Jordan Kyrou isn’t slowing down. The Blues stumbled out of the gate to a 7-9-6 record, losing four of their last five, and sinking to second-last in the Central Division. The speculation has only grown louder.
Now, an NHL insider has shed light on which teams have emerged as the leading contenders for Kyrou.
Which Western Conference Teams Have Emerged as the Top Contenders for Jordan Kyrou?
On “The Sheet with Jeff Marek”, NHL insider David Pagnotta discussed the escalating Kyrou chatter. The 27-year-old has been at the center of trade talk all season, especially after being a healthy scratch during the Blues’ 3-0 win over the Sabres earlier this month.
Pagnotta said the Blues remain active and are continuing trade discussions with multiple teams. “They’re still very active,” he said. “They’re still having their communication or excuse me, calls and discussions, conversations… with some of the other teams that are out there that are that are looking at multiple pieces and it’s the same guys that are out there that we’ve talked about.”
He pointed out that Justin Faulk, Brayden Schenn, and Kyrou are still big discussion points. Pagnotta also revealed that a few Western Conference teams, including some in the Pacific Division, have shown strong interest in Kyrou.
“We know Seattle (Kraken) has been one. I’m really interested. We just touched briefly on the (Anaheim) Ducks. And the Ducks are a team that willing to go big fish hunting to a certain extent. I wonder about them and Jordan Kyrou. I know there’s been some level of interest expressed in the past, so I’m curious there.”
For now, it remains to be seen when, or if, the Blues decide to pull the trigger on a Kyrou move.
Pagnotta also touched on another wrinkle: Doug Armstrong is expected to step down as GM next season, handing the role to Alex Steen. But that transition may not be as straightforward as expected. “Some people have saying they wonder if that gets prolonged, if you know, Doug Armstrong wants to leave that role with this team in this current state. I wonder if there’s a there’s an extended stay at that level or at least within that responsibility,” Pagnotta added.
For now, the Blues are fully engaged in trade talks as they try to reshape their roster and salvage the season.
