Broncos’ Bo Nix Emerges As Two-Minute Drill Star

The Denver Broncos are on a bye in Week 12. So, it’s a good time to lift the hood on the car. ESPN‘s Courtney Cronin did just that, looking at the top five quarterbacks in the two-minute drill. That’s where Broncos quarterback Bo Nix jumped out from the hood of the car. That’s right: Nix is one of the five best quarterbacks in the league in the two-minute drill.

He said, “It’s a belief, or a mentality, or a grit or a toughness. We just have this belief if we get to the end of the game — it starts with a defense where you know they’re going to stop them, at some critical moment they’re going to stop them and we’re going to have opportunity after opportunity [on offense].”

Nix has four touchdown passes, which are tied for second-most in the two-minute drill, according to Cronin. And his 86 QBR is also third. Nix said to Cronin that he likes the tempo of end-of-half situations and end-of-game situations, and that it’s because the Broncos’ offense usually picks up the pace, which scales down the play selection.

With 12 sacks taken, only the Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold has a lower sack rate than Nix, and the former has 105 fewer pass attempts than the latter. “The Broncos have avoided too many down-and-distance situations that are heavier lifts just before the half or with the game on the line,” ESPN‘s Jeff Legwold said.

The other four quarterbacks in the top five are Caleb Williams, Dak Prescott, Drake Maye, and Aaron Rodgers. Nix is third among the quarterbacks. Williams is No. 1 and the only QB with four-plus touchdowns and zero turnovers in the final two minutes of either half this season. Prescott is second and totals six touchdown passes in the two-minute drill, which are the most in the NFL.

Maye, meanwhile, is fourth, with a league-leading 72% completion percentage in the two-minute drill. And Rodgers is tied with Maye with three touchdown passes in the two-minute drill. Elsewhere for the Broncos, though, it’s not likely Denver re-signs running back J.K. Dobbins for the 2026 season.
