After Harbor’s touchdown, things fell apart rapidly for Beamer and South Carolina as they looked likely to fall to a defeat against an unbeaten Texas A&M side. This had led to calls for Beamer’s firing, with the Gamecocks’ season looking like a write-off.

The Gamecocks started the 2025 season ranked No. 13 with playoff aspirations, but reality has hit hard. After their latest defeat, the team has fallen to a disappointing 3-6 record. This had led to increased calls for Beamer’s departure.
Beamer, who holds a 32-27 record during his tenure before today, led the Gamecocks to AP Top 25 finishes in 2022 and 2024. The university demonstrated its faith in his leadership in January 2025, extending his contract through December 31, 2030, with an annual salary of $8.125 million.

Beamer played for the Hokies from 1995 to 1999 and later worked as an assistant coach under his legendary father, Frank, from 2011 to 2015. They are currently in the hunt for a new head coach; however, there is a likely chance that James Franklin could be announced soon.

According to reports from USA Today, with the significant contract that the head coach signed recently, it would cost upwards of 27$ million to get rid of the head coach. However, they would owe 5$ million if he walked off on his own volition.
“I’ve conveyed many times how much I want to be here. This is my dream job. I said that when I came here. Nothing has changed. I am pissed off at the way we are performing right now, and it’s not acceptable,” Beamer stated recently.
After blowing a 27-point lead, which was capped off by a disastrous drive in the final minutes of the game by LaNorris Sellers, Beamer could potentially find himself on the hot seat in the coming days.
