Brock Purdy Injury Update: Will Fantasy Managers Finally See 49ers QB Back in Week 11?

What's the latest on Brock Purdy's injury status, and is it possible he'll miss Week 9? Should fantasy managers be preparing for a replacement?

We are well into the second half of the NFL season. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 11 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news, especially with playoff races heating up. Brock Purdy hasn’t played since Week 4 due to his turf toe injury. What is his current status and outlook for this week?

Is Brock Purdy Playing Week 11?

Purdy’s turf toe injury, which first occurred against the Seahawks in Week 1 and was aggravated in a failed comeback attempt in Week 4, has kept him out longer than initially projected. The volatility of turf toe makes it challenging to forecast player effectiveness and additional setbacks, explaining the team’s cautious handling throughout October and early November.

Brock Purdy is scheduled to go through an aggressive practice regimen this week with the clear intention of reclaiming his spot as the 49ers’ starting quarterback against the Arizona Cardinals.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has repeatedly emphasized that Purdy’s recovery has reached a pivotal point, with team medical staff monitoring his push-off strength and ability to withstand full-speed movement. While Purdy practiced in a limited capacity over the last two weeks, this week’s upgrade in workload will be a key determinant of whether he starts on Sunday.

Shanahan has indicated positive momentum in Purdy’s rehab, stating there is a “good chance” the quarterback will be medically cleared to start if he completes the practice plan without setbacks. For now, his status is listed as questionable, but optimism is building that he’ll be under center for San Francisco in Week 11.

Purdy’s Fantasy Football Outlook

There’s said to be cautious optimism in San Francisco that Brock Purdy will return from this nagging toe injury this week, and while the matchup is strong, you’d have to be in real trouble for me to green-light plugging him into a standard lineup with just two teams on a bye.

This system can, and probably will, make Purdy viable, but I need proof of health before gambling on the Kyle Shanahan scheme of goodness (Mac Jones has thrown for multiple scores in three straight games).

If you can sit on Purdy this week, I think you’re good to go next week on Monday night against the Panthers. The fantasy playoffs bring about a favorable stretch (Titans, Colts, and Bears) that includes nothing but strong weather forecasts and good script projections.

You’ve been patient up to this point, all I’m asking for is one more week. If Purdy was cut loose, now is the time to beat the rush and add him. He won’t be ranked inside of my top 12 this week, even if 100% cleared for action, but if that’s the case, he’ll be in that mix for the remainder of the season and potentially inside the top 10 for that Week 15-17 stretch where your league champion is being decided.
