Mitch Marner Breaks the Internet in 3–2 Defeat vs. Florida Panthers

The Vegas Golden Knights' Mitch Marner takes the internet by fire by unprecedented move against the Florida Panthers in the T-Mobile Arena.

Another game, another loss for the Vegas Golden Knights. Following the latest 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Florida Panthers, the Golden Knights have now lost three consecutive games, raising concerns among both the team’s players and fans. The team remains at the top of the Pacific Division with 18 points, but it needs to regain its rhythm soon.

While Brad Marchand was the man of the moment, the veteran winger successfully extended his goal streak to five games. However, the internet also resounded with relentless chatter surrounding Mitch Marner, who pulled the absolutely shocking move of going out of his way to save an empty-net shot.

NHL Fans React to Mitch Marner’s Goaltending Stint

What looked like an easy move for the Panthers was thoroughly jeopardized by Marner. No sooner did he watch the puck coming for the empty net than Marner leaped to make the save, leaving T-Mobile Arena thundering with applause.

The more seasoned Marner admirers and fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs know that this is not just a stray instance: the elite winger has a knack for saving empty-net shots.

The Golden Knights lost the game, but Marner caught the attention of social media users, who chimed in with their thoughts. “Mitch Marner, a goalie?” commented an NHL fan, wondering if Marner would be better suited as a netminder.

Another hockey watcher could not help but marvel at Marner’s remarkable play that just would not let the Panthers have an easy goal. “Mitch Marner literally just saved a goal. What a play denying the panthers an empty net goal.”

One social media user made a snarky comment about Marner’s apparent inability to score goals, suggesting that he should be doing so more diligently than saving them. “Mitch Marner saving goals✅ Mitch Marner scoring goals❌”. The sardonic comment is unsubstantiated. Marner, despite not having nearly enough goals with the Knights, has 15 assists, resulting in 19 points over 15 games.

Finally, despite being far away from the arena, Stuart Skinner was mindlessly dragged by a hockey fan who stated that, despite goaltending being his forte, Skinner could never make a save like Marner’s. “Stuart Skinner could never.”

While the goaltending was surely a sight of marvel, Marner’s fans would love to watch him do what he does best: scoring goals to lead the Golden Knights out of the slump they have fallen into. At the end of the day, the winger has a mammoth, $96 million paycheck to justify.
