The Toronto Raptors are one of the most mediocre teams in the NBA.
Despite having a plethora of talented players, the Raptors sit at No. 8 in the Eastern Conference. Arguably their best player so far has been star forward Brandon Ingram, who is averaging 21 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Despite his on-court production thus far, Ingram failed to stay composed on the bench during Toronto’s most recent game.
NBA Fines Brandon Ingram
The Philadelphia 76ers took down the Raptors 130-120 on Saturday. Ingram finished the night with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists on 41.2% shooting in 37 minutes. This effort by the 28-year-old wasn’t enough, and his frustrations got the best of him.
Ingram slammed a water bottle on the court while sitting on the bench that hit a staff member in the face. The splash also appeared to hit Raptors star Scottie Barnes, as the game was paused to clean up the mess.
The NBA announced the one-time All-Star is being fined $25,000 for this action, writing, “Toronto Raptors forward Brandon Ingram has been fined $25,000 for forcibly throwing his water bottle to the floor while on the bench, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.”
“The incident, in which the bottle made contact with a game attendant and caused a game delay to dry the court, occurred with 6:25 remaining in the third quarter of the Raptors’ 130-120 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Nov. 8 at Xfinity Mobile Arena,” the announcement concluded.
The Raptors take on the Brooklyn Nets (1-9) on Tuesday.
