49ers Fans Furious After Controversial No-Call on Pivotal Drive

49ers fans blast officials after two controversial no-calls involving Jauan Jennings during a tough first half vs. the Rams in their Week 10 matchup.

The Los Angeles Rams controlled the first half against the San Francisco 49ers, finding the end zone on their opening three drives, forcing a Jauan Jennings fumble, and stopping Christian McCaffrey on a key fourth down inside 49ers territory.

San Francisco cut the deficit to make it 21-7 at halftime, but fans were furious over two uncalled penalties against the Rams that they believed could have swung the game’s momentum.

49ers Fans Are Furious Over Two Missed Penalty Calls on Jauan Jennings

The undermanned 49ers had trouble containing the Rams, who continue to establish themselves as one of the NFC’s top teams. After Los Angeles dominated early, San Francisco began to settle in toward the end of the second quarter.

Even with the team’s struggles, most of the frustration from fans centered on the officiating — particularly over missed calls involving Jennings, who accounted for San Francisco’s lone touchdown of the first half.

On the team’s final drive before halftime, Mac Jones targeted Jennings over the middle, and there appeared to be contact from a Rams defender, who arrived late and seemed to hit the receiver’s facemask.

One fan voiced anger on X, posting: “Another week, another game of missed calls that benefit the opponent that cost SF points.”

Another fan pointed out that it wasn’t the first missed call of the afternoon. “That’s at least 3x and we haven’t gotten one. Him 2x and Kittle, I believe. That’s trash,” the fan’s comment read.

“Bear hugged before the ball gets there AGAIN. Atrocious refs,” another said.

But not all fans agreed that the referees missed the call. One fan argued that Jones made a poor read and that the play was actually well defended, saying it shouldn’t have drawn a flag.

“As a 49ers fan that was a good no call in my opinion by the way Robinson was wide open on that play,” the fan wrote.

Jennings was also part of a disputed play on the opening drive — and once again, no flag was thrown.

San Francisco faced multiple challenges executing its game plan in the first half, while Los Angeles came out with more energy, dominating on both sides of the ball. Fans were upset with the officiating but also demanded better performance from the team, especially on defense.
