The NFL season is in full swing. As happens every year, injuries are rearing their ugly heads. As fantasy football managers prepare to set Week 10 lineups, it’s important to stay informed on the latest injury news. Garrett Wilson missed some practice time this week due to injury. What is his current status and outlook for this week?
Is Garrett Wilson Playing Week 10?
Update: Wilson is ACTIVE
Wilson sustained a hyperextended knee during the Jets’ Week 6 loss to the Denver Broncos in London. What initially looked like a mild injury kept him out for three weeks. Despite the team’s insistence that the injury wasn’t serious, Wilson missed two straight games before the bye and hadn’t returned to practice until this week.
The expectation when Wilson went down was always that he would rest for two games, get the bye for an extra week of recovery, and return in Week 10. All reports continue highlighting that Wilson avoided any structural damage and shouldn’t require a long-term absence. The timing of New York’s Week 9 bye worked perfectly in his favor.
Wednesday brought the news fantasy managers were waiting for. Wilson returned to a limited practice. Thursday brought more of the same, with Wilson logging a second consecutive limited session. The back-to-back limited practices demonstrated continued progress in his recovery.
Friday delivered the best possible news. Wilson upgraded to full participation. The upgrade indicates he’s past the knee issue and ready to handle a full workload without restrictions.
Despite the full Friday practice, Wilson is listed as questionable on the injury report. The designation likely has more to do with head coach Aaron Glenn’s fondness of playing games with injury reports than any genuine concern about Wilson’s availability. Glenn likes to maintain uncertainty the same way he refuses to name a starting quarterback, as if he’s somehow gaining an advantage by keeping opponents guessing.
Wilson himself provided the most definitive update possible. He told reporters he’s playing this week. I believe him. Expect Wilson to be out there Sunday against Cleveland.
Wilson’s Fantasy Football Outlook
The hope is that Wilson (knee) is good to go coming out of the bye and while betting on the passing attack of the Jets isn’t exactly an optimal way to spend a Sunday, he has seen at least eight targets in every game he’s played this season and we have seen a receiver per week get home against the stingy Browns.

In fact, in five of their past seven games, Cleveland has allowed a WR to score at least 16.5 PPR points, production that Wilson managers would take in a heartbeat. If there’s a New York receiver that is going to flirt with that total, there’s no debate as to who it’ll be and even if Wilson comes up just shy of that number, he’ll prove worthy of starting.
I’ve got him ranked just ahead of Deebo Samuel (vs. DET) and behind Jaylen Waddle (vs. BUF) if we are stacking up talented receivers with iffy QB situations against one another.
