Gauff is currently in Riyadh for the 2025 WTA Finals, which began on November 1, 2025, and will run until November 8, 2025, at the King Saud University Indoor Arena in Saudi Arabia. She is seeded third in this season-ending tournament and will be defending her title.

In 2024, Gauff won her first two matches in the round-robin stage against Jessica Pegula and Iga Świątek but lost to Barbora Krejčíková in the third round-robin match. In the semifinals, she defeated Aryna Sabalenka and then triumphed over Zheng Qinwen in the final to claim the title.

Who Will Gauff Face First at the 2025 WTA Finals?

Leading up to the 2025 WTA Finals, Gauff participated in the 2025 Wuhan Open. There, she defeated qualifier Moyuka Uchijima, Wild Card Zhang Shuai, Laura Siegemund, and Paolini to reach the final. She faced Pegula in the championship match and won with a score of 6-4, 7-5, securing her third WTA 1000 title and her 11th career singles title on the WTA Tour.

This year’s season-ending tournament is divided into two groups: Group Steffi Graf and Group Serena Williams. The Graf group includes Sabalenka, Gauff, Pegula, and Paolini. Meanwhile, the Williams group consists of Keys, Świątek, Amanda Anisimova, and Elena Rybakina.

Gauff will begin her campaign in the 2025 WTA Finals by facing off against Pegula in her opening match. The two players have met seven times on the WTA Tour, with Pegula winning four of those encounters. Their most recent matchup was in the final of the 2025 Wuhan Open, where Gauff emerged victorious, claiming the title.
