Demond Claiborne’s NFL Draft Potential

Demond Claiborne has taken just 69 carries thus far in the 2025 season, but he’s been one of the most dynamic and most efficient backs in the entire nation. At 5’10”, 195 pounds, he’s a bit undersized, but he makes up for it in contact situations with hyperactive leg churn, surprising lean mass and wiry strength, and elite contact balance.

And ultimately, his superpower is his devastating evasion fusion: Claiborne has the combined vertical explosiveness, rapid recalibration, lateral burst, vision, and spatial IQ to leave defenders lurching at multiple levels.

CFB Week 9 Update

Claiborne’s overall efficiency has been up and down this year, and Week 9 was another down outing. On 23 carries, he logged just 73 yards, good for an uninspiring 3.2 average per carry. Every now and then, he was able to break free for a modest gain up a C-gap seam, but the Mustangs had his number more often than not.

Part of it was iffy interior line play, but Claiborne also wasted motion in the setup space a couple times, and when he was met with early contact threats, he didn’t have the size or lower-body power to bowl through. In this, some of Claiborne’s limitations were put on display, but he’s still a quality RB prospect.

Where Is Claiborne Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?

Claiborne currently holds the No. 67 overall rank among prospects, reflecting his standing among mid-round prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 71.1 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected on Day 2 or early Day 3.

This small gap between rank and ADP suggests he’s consistently valued among evaluators, even amid fluctuations in player evaluations at this stage of the draft cycle.

Users controlling the Chicago Bears have been the team that selected Claiborne the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.0% of their picks across all seven rounds.
