Keith Abney II is a cornerback from Arizona State who is ranked No. 23 on my NFL Draft Top 100 Big Board. This comprehensive scouting report analyzes Abney’s draft potential, current mock draft trends, and where he ranks among the top prospects.
Keith Abney II’s NFL Draft Potential
Keith Abney II was quietly one of the best coverage CBs in college football last season, and he’s picked up his disruptive ways through the first half of the 2025 season. He has the fourth-highest PFSN CBi score in the nation at 94.1, and the tape has been lights-out from start to finish. At around 6’0″, 190 pounds, Abney has some of the most translatable coverage athleticism on the circuit, with effortless mirror-motor ability and route relationship management in off-man and zone.
He doesn’t quite have elite hip fluidity working against out-breaking routes and comebacks, and he won’t run the fastest in Indianapolis, but his effervescent matching skills, adept swivel and hinge flexibility, quick reactions, and stingy catch-point impact compare favorably to Pro Bowler Jaylon Johnson.
CFB Week 9 Update
While the Sun Devils lost against Houston, it was a solid week for Abney, who allowed just one catch for 12 yards on five targets, per TruMedia. Abney continues to dissuade quarterbacks from testing him altogether, and when he is tested, his sticky, claustrophobic coverage forces quarterbacks to press, which can impact precision and accuracy.
Where Is Abney Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Abney currently holds the No. 31 overall rank among prospects, placing him among the first-round caliber prospects. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 37.0 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected in the second or third round.
The gap between his rank and ADP indicates that while he’s highly regarded on our board, draft simulators are seeing him slide slightly, possibly due to team needs or positional value considerations.
Users controlling the Seattle Seahawks have been the team that selected Abney the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.5% of their picks across all seven rounds.
