Ben Shelton Receives a Message of Encouragement From Girlfriend Trinity Rodman While She Herself Recovers From On-Field Injury

Trinity Rodman shares update amid injury hiatus and shows support for boyfriend Ben Shelton ahead of his ATP 500 campaign in Basel.

Ben Shelton’s girlfriend, Trinity Rodman, is going through a tough spell after suffering an MCL sprain a few days ago. The injury came during Washington Spirit’s commanding 4-0 victory over Monterrey in the Concacaf W Champions Cup fifth round. A heavy tackle left her in visible pain, forcing her off on crutches as she struggled to stand on her right leg and exited the field in tears.

The Washington Spirit’s forward has recently shared an update amid her injury and has also shared her excitement ahead of boyfriend Ben Shelton’s upcoming campaign in Basel.

Trinity Rodman Shares Update Amid Injury Hiatus and Shows Support for Boyfriend Ben Shelton

A few days on, Spirit coach Adrian Gonzalez expressed optimism, emphasizing that Rodman’s recovery is progressing under ideal conditions, and her rehabilitation will be monitored day by day, with no exact date projected for her return.

Moreover, Rodman also appears determined to bounce back, as shown in a recent Instagram story where she was spotted in the gym, standing with a stick and a long brace supporting her right leg.

“Learning how to trust GODS timing,” she captioned.

It is also worth noting that the setback comes not long after Rodman returned from a four-month spell on the sidelines with a chronic back injury. She spent that time on intense rehab and gym work, and had described the journey as mentally tough. She has made 13 appearances since August, and has scored 7 goals.

Beyond her recovery, Rodman has something special to look forward to, that is her boyfriend Shelton’s campaign at the ATP 500 event in Basel, Switzerland. Notably, Shelton himself had been out of action since the US Open due to a shoulder injury before making his return at the 2025 Shanghai Masters.

However, the World No. 6’s comeback fell short of expectations as he suffered a second-round defeat to David Goffin. Despite the early setback in Shanghai, Shelton appears eager to regain his rhythm, recently sharing glimpses of his preparations in Basel, showcasing fierce drills and trademark power hitting on the hard courts.

Rodman, a constant supporter of Shelton, made sure to cheer him on in the comments section. “LFG,” she wrote.

Shelton entered the ATP 500 event in Basel as the second seed, and his determination would be tested by Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the second round. Notably, this would be the pair’s first meeting on tour.
