After the hustle and bustle of the WTA Tour ended, American tennis star Emma Navarro returned to her hometown of Charleston to enjoy some time off. The 24-year-old recently shared a few pictures from an outing there, and much to her delight, her loved ones joined her as well.
What Did Emma Navarro Share From Her Charleston Visit?
After a third-round exit at the US Open, Navarro set her sights on the Asian Swing, determined to reverse her fortunes. She showed clear improvement at the China Open, as she made a relatively deeper run. The 16th seed began with a 6-3, 7-6(0) win over Elena-Gabriela Ruse, advanced via a walkover against France’s Lois Boisson, and then stunned top seed and six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Świątek 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 to reach the quarterfinals.
However, Navarro struggled to maintain her momentum against compatriot Jessica Pegula and, despite showing resistance, eventually fell 7-6(2), 2-6, 1-6. She entered the next tournament in Wuhan, hoping to build on her Beijing performance, but her campaign was short-lived as she lost to home favorite Zhang Shuai 2-6, 6-2, 3-6 in the opening round.
Although Navarro’s run at the Wuhan Open fell well below her standards, she appears to have moved past the setback and shifted her focus to the present. The American recently shared glimpses of her time with friends, showcasing a distinct look in the pictures as she sported a denim jacket and completed her look with long boots. The world No. 15 seemed to have a great time in her hometown, and her pictures clearly reflected that.
“love to be here,” she captioned.

Emma was born to Kelly and Ben Navarro in New York City in 2001 and became a promising junior tennis star in Charleston. According to Forbes, Ben, the founder and CEO of Sherman Financial Group, boasts a net worth of $3.2 billion as of August 2025. On the other hand, Kelly prefers to avoid public attention but often attends their daughter Emma’s matches.
How Has the 2025 Season Actually Been for Emma Navarro?
Navarro’s 2025 season has been a rollercoaster, and her record reflects that perfectly. The American had a decent start, finishing in the quarterfinals in Adelaide and the Australian Open in Melbourne, where she notched impressive wins over tough contenders Ons Jabeur and Daria Kasatkina.
She then endured a rough patch with early exits in the Middle Eastern swing but bounced back strongly by capturing the WTA 500 title in Mérida earlier in March. Quarterfinal appearances in her hometown, Charleston, then Strasbourg, Queen’s Club, Bad Homburg, and eventually in the WTA 1000 event in Beijing stood out as some of the few bright spots in Navarro’s 2025 campaign.
Navarro boasts a 30-24 win-loss record with one tour-level title added to her name.
