The Jacksonville Jaguars headed back overseas for their annual London game. This time, they were set to face a Los Angeles Rams team missing its best weapon, as Puka Nacua was out with an injury.
Unfortunately, they failed to make the most of that, and plenty of that had to do with Trevor Lawrence’s shortcomings. Once again, the former No. 1 pick failed to make some easy throws, up to the point where former NFL stars Richard Sherman and LeSean McCoy couldn’t take it anymore.
What Did LeSean McCoy And Richard Sherman Say About Trevor Lawrence?
“It’s mind boggling that Trevor Lawrence makes almost 11M per year more that Matthew Stafford,” Sherman wrote on X.
“Been screaming this for years … other position got to fight for they money but n real life Trevor makes 55 million a year,” McCoy replied with a laughing face emoji, to which Sherman shared a burglar GIF to imply Lawrence was robbing his team.

Lawrence is currently making $55 million a year. He signed a five-year, $275 million contract that included a $200 million guarantee that would keep him tied to the organization through the 2030 team.
Stafford, on the other hand, will get $44 million this season and $40 million next season after re-negotiating his two-year contract with the Rams.
Lawrence’s contract has been a talking point for years now. He showed signs of promise in his first season under Doug Pederson, throwing for 4,113 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and eight interceptions and leading the team to the playoffs. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to build up from that season.
To be fair, drops have also hurt Liam Coen’s offense this season. Second-year pro Brian Thomas has dropped six passes already, regressing after his impressive first year out of LSU.
Still, the Jaguars failed to score a single point in the first half of the game, missing a field goal and failing twice on fourth down. This is Lawrence’s fifth year in the league, and he should’ve figured things out by now. We’ve seen some late bloomers like Sam Darnold and, more recently, Daniel Jones, but this is now his third head coach.
Perhaps Matthew Stafford is criminally underrated and underpaid, or maybe this is just a reflection of the inflated quarterback market. Whatever the case, Lawrence is tied with Joe Burrow and Josh Allen for the second-highest average annual salary in the league.
