NFL fans have no issue making it clear when they do not like someone. As part of the final regular-season game in London this season, Rich Eisen called for the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. the Los Angeles Rams.
Joined by ex-QB Kurt Warner, Eisen has received a lot of criticism for his calling of the game. Ultimately, NFL fans weren’t thrilled to wake up to the sound of his voice for the second week in a row.
Rich Eisen Met With Tons of Criticism By NFL Fans After Calling Back-to-Back London Games
NFL fans have plenty of top-quality broadcasters, from Joe Buck to Kevin Burkhardt to Mike Tirico. Each will be an acquired taste, but Eisen seems to be a league-wide announcer that no one has enjoyed listening to during these London games. Right away on Sunday morning, fans bashed Eisen for his announcing, with one fan saying, “I like Rich Eisen, but he is the worst play-by-play guy to ever exist.”

Another fan acknowledged how much they like him, but can’t stand him in the booth, “Rich Eisen is a legend but he’s so bad at calling games.” Ultimately, this is the situation the NFL put themselves in. Seemingly, each international game has been met with different announcers as the league has hit one month straight of games starting at 9:30 a.m. EST, as teams and these crews are forced to travel halfway across the world.
It must be noted that this is not the first time fans have been frustrated with Eisen’s work. Last week, one fan called him “absolutely unlistenable” as others joined the conversation. Other than Eisen continually going to his roots and naming players who played for Michigan, fans are simply frustrated with his lack of enthusiasm and issues with calling players the wrong names.
“Rich Eisen’s obsession with pointing out Michigan players on the broadcast is probably the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen from anyone in the sports industry,” this fan said.
Someone else was on the same wavelength, “I like Rich Eisen but he is not a play by play guy… he didn’t even know who caught the touchdown.” This led to another comment, “Rich Eisen is not a play by play guy lol,” while another added, “Rich Eisen is so bad at commentary he’s having voice cracks at like 60,” with the crying emojis.

“Rich Eisen continues to be the worst football commentator I’ve ever head,” one fan wrote. Through the first half of the London game, another agreed, “Can we please get Rich Eisen off the play by play broadcast? He is just awful.” This fan tried to politely put him down, “I’m not a hater but Rich Eisen sucks at calling games. He is awesome at calling the highlights though,” obviously, those are two very different things.

After Eisen failed to capture NFL fans’ excitement, they took to social media to express their displeasure: “Rich Eisen is like a cringeworthy lounge act.” Other comments began to come in, “I’m begging you please stop giving Rich Eisen air time,” and, “NFL Network needs to stop putting Rich Eisen in the booth.”
Eisen has been a staple of the NFL Network since 2003. While his primary calling is not being an announcer, fans have grown used to seeing him and hearing his voice on television.
