Top 2026 NFL Draft Prospects
I use my sub-trait grade framework to sort players into brackets, and then have the autonomy to sort players within those brackets based on other notable factors such as production, medicals, off-field history, and more.
The 2025 college football season has already given us countless NFL Draft developments to monitor, and we’ll have plenty of time to go over them all as the season progresses. Today, however, it feels right to recap the quarterback action and the reshuffling.
Fernando Mendoza entered the season as a potential QB1 candidate, and he remains the favorite after first dismantling Illinois and Iowa, then out-dueling fellow QB1 candidate Moore in a head-to-head win.
MORE: Latest 3-Round NFL Mock Draft
Mendoza fits the prototypical blueprint at 6’5″, 225 pounds, and has the requisite athleticism and rocket arm — but his poise under pressure, accuracy, drive throwing outside the numbers, and route break anticipation won the day so far in 2025.
Moore looks like a future franchise QB just as much as Mendoza, but his duel against the latter in Week 7 put the gap between them on display. It’s not a large gap, as the rankings indicate, but Moore wasn’t able to push the envelope as much as Mendoza — whose anticipation and timeliness might be a tier above at this stage.
Nonetheless, Moore has an enticing blend of easy arm talent, natural flatline composure, and accuracy — a trait mix that gives him a striking resemblance to 2023 second overall pick C.J. Stroud.
The second tier of QBs is also comprised of two passers on my board: Simpson and Sellers. And past them, keep an eye on one of Mensah or Maiava to fill the fifth spot and potentially keep surging. Maiava is a fearless gunslinger with high velocity, while Mensah is a budding anticipatory thrower with all-encompassing tools.
