The developing situation with Mark Sanchez was one of the more complicated matters of the NFL season. Going to cover the Indianapolis Colts game in Week 5, he got into a weird altercation that resulted in him being stabbed multiple times and ending up in the hospital.
The situation then took an even weirder turn, as an official police complaint was filed against him, and he was set to go to court. Now, after his hearing, more details have emerged about the situation, courtesy of the man himself.
What Happened to Mark Sanchez?
As he was discharged from the hospital, Sanchez looked distraught with the situation, with his weakness clearly evident.
Speaking to reporters, he expressed his gratitude, “Right now I am just kind of focused on my recovery, and I just want to thank the first responders.”

He also made a few special mentions beyond that, adding, “Eskenazi Hospital, Marion County sheriff, and the Indianapolis Police Department, metro PD.” Going a step further, he called Dr. Lindsey Mossler the surgeon who “saved his life.”
The NFL world immediately sent well-wishes to him upon learning of his hospitalization, and the situation quickly became a mystery to everyone. A FOX9 reporter, Angela Ganote, brought in more details about the situation.
Sanchez was reportedly not cooperative with the police. Then, the full statement from his attacker showcased that his attack was a matter of self-defense after Sanchez forced him out of his parking spot, before threatening and following him.
Even after he tried to de-escalate the situation using pepper spray, the broadcaster was unperturbed, leading to the driver’s attack. As a result, a hearing was scheduled, and the process required Sanchez to have his mug shot taken inside Marion County Jail following his hospital release.
It’s unclear what his punishment will be and what the verdict from the court will come out to be. If found guilty, Sanchez could face between one and six years in prison for the Level 5 felony battery charge.
His initial arrest, though, was made on three separate counts: arrested for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication.
