American tennis star Amanda Anisimova captured her first China Open title on Sunday, defeating Linda Nosková in a thrilling three-set final in Beijing. The victory marked another milestone in Anisimova’s breakthrough 2025 season, but it was her heartfelt words to her nephews during the trophy ceremony that truly stole the spotlight.
What Did Amanda Anisimova Say to Her Family and Nephews After the China Open Win?
Third seed Anisimova played against 26th seed Nosková on October 5 in a three-set thriller that lasted an hour and 46 minutes on the Diamond Court. Anisimova started strong, dominating the first set 6-0 in just 23 minutes to get a lead in the final. She hit smart shots to the corners and didn’t let her opponent get into the match early.
However, Nosková turned the tide in the second set, breaking Anisimova’s serve right away. The 20-year-old saved two big break points with an ace and a strong backhand. She took a 3-1 lead and won four of the next five points to even the match with a 6-2 win in the second set.
Anisimova again returned to her dominating form, saving a massive break point in the first game before her speed and power took control. After 2-2, the world number 4 won four games in a row, closing out the match 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 for her first China Open win.
During the trophy presentation ceremony, the American thanked her team, expressing gratitude to everyone who helped her. After talking about her team, she mentioned her family at home, saying,
“And also to my family back home. I’m sure they’re watching right now, so. Excited to talk to you guys and see you soon. And yeah, I love you.” Before leaving the stage, she also gave a special shoutout to her nephews, saying, “I think I’m done, but my nephews, who I think might be watching. I just want to say, hi Jackson, Kyla. I love you guys.”

Anisimova’s Love for Her Nephews
Earlier this year at Wimbledon, she showed just how much her loved ones mean to her. After reaching her first Wimbledon semifinal by beating Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-1, 7-6(9) in the quarterfinals, Anisimova brought a special guest to her post-match interview.
Her four-year-old nephew Jackson walked onto the grass at No. 1 Court with his aunt. He had flown in from America that morning with Anisimova’s sister and brother-in-law. The timing was perfect as Jackson’s fourth birthday was on Thursday, the same day as Anisimova’s semifinal match, which she won against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
“He’s more tough than me. He’s the older brother, so,” Anisimova joked during the interview. Jackson stayed calm despite being on the court in front of thousands of fans.

Anisimova’s Remarkable 2025 Season So Far
This win tops off a great 2025 season for Anisimova. She reached five finals this year, including two Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. She lost both finals, first against Iga Świątek at Wimbledon, then against Aryna Sabalenka at the US Open.
The China Open title is Anisimova’s second WTA 1000 win of 2025, and the fourth total of her career. She won the first one of 2025 in Doha at the Qatar Open in February. Securing her position in the World Top 8, Anisimova made the WTA Finals in Riyadh for the first time, highlighting how good her season was.
She is expected to play next at the Wuhan Open from October 6-12, 2025.
