The Miami Dolphins have had a wildly disappointing start to the 2025 season. Hoping to take the jump to contenders in the AFC, they’re instead having a hard time remaining in the hunt in the AFC East. After starting the year 0-3, they finally got their first win of the season in Week 4. However, that game came at the cost of losing Tyreek Hill to one of the most brutal-looking injuries you’ll ever see.
As a result, the team’s standing is in serious question, both for this season and for the future. With the roster’s lack of results, fans have understandably turned their ire towards the players, with virtually no one spared from their anger. As the conversations around the team continued to escalate, their star running back De’Von Achane had had enough and sent some harsh words towards the fan base.
De’Von Achane Is Fed Up With Miami Dolphins Fans
A third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft for Miami, Achane came into the league with a ton of hype after running a fantastic 4.32 40-yard dash at the combine. Integrating himself into the Dolphins’ offense in no time, he quickly started showing success on the field.
After a rookie season where he tallied 800 rushing yards in just four starts, the Dolphins elevated him to the starting role in 2024. While his rushing yards saw a small uptick to 907 yards, his real growth came as a pass catcher.
Finishing with 592 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns, he became a legitimate component of the passing attack. This year, though, Miami’s slow star coincided with his production.
As the losses piled up, Achane’s rushing ability didn’t break the game open through the first three games. Week 4 saw a shift, as he finished with 99 yards on the ground.

It immediately made him a fan favorite again, after fans had been aghast at his performance to start the year. Unfortunately, the talented running back didn’t take too kindly to their switch-up.
Instead, he took to Instagram to pen a message for the Miami faithful.
“One week they love me, one week they hate me, both weeks I got paid,” he wrote in the caption, as he understood the value he now holds on the roster, especially with Hill out for the season.
He was becoming a prime candidate for a potential trade, as Miami could have considered blowing up an extremely expensive roster. However, with Hill’s injury, they will need some players to step up, and Achane will likely remain on the roster as a 23-year-old with upside.
