Super Bowl Champion QB Urges NFL To ‘Change’ Rules After Cowboys-Packers SNF Matchup Ends in a Tie

After the classic between the Packers and the Cowboys ended in a tie, a former Super Bowl champion was done with NFL games ending in a draw.

In what many were hailing as the Micah Parsons revenge game, the end result turned out to be rather disappointing. The Green Bay Packers battled the Dallas Cowboys in one of the most emotionally charged matchups in recent NFL history.

After nearly 70 minutes of action on Sunday Night Football in Week 4 of the 2025 season, the game came to a lukewarm ending with a field goal from the visiting team, leading to a 40-40 tie.

For two teams that had all the intensity football could muster, the result sounded like a rather sour note. Neither team walked away with the win nor without the satisfaction of having proven their point. As a result, a former Super Bowl champion immediately took to social media to complain about the result, demanding that the rules be changed to ensure that each game had a winner.

Cowboys vs. Packers Draws Ire Against Ties

It was an offensive explosion, as the draw at 40 was the highest score that a game has ended in a tie since the NFL-AFL merger. Both quarterbacks, Jordan Love and Dak Prescott, had a duel with both sides throwing haymakers at each other.

The fourth quarter alone saw both teams score two touchdowns, including one each in the final two minutes, before a 53-yard field goal from Brandon McManus at the buzzer tied the two sides at 37.

The crowd and the NFL fan base eagerly watched as an instant classic was developing right before our eyes. However, in overtime is when the defense and the player who had everyone’s attention shone.

As Prescott tried to run the ball into the end zone himself with a free path forward, Parsons emerged and sacked him from behind, potentially saving a game-winning touchdown from his former teammate and quarterback.

The Cowboys were able to get three before the Packers, after some egregious clock management, added a field goal themselves, bringing the game to an end. After 70 minutes of classic NFL action, the result left a sour taste in some people’s mouths.

Chief among them was former quarterback turned analyst Chase Daniel. Immediately taking to X, he expressed his disdain for the outcome, stating, “Everyone should hate ties…teams work their tails off for a win. I absolutely hate them.”

Going a step further, he believed the league needed to make some changes to its rules. “The fact the NFL allows ties is beyond me. Change this & might as well change the kickoff rules too,” he added as a side bonus after arguing against the new kickoff rules earlier in the week.

It’s unlikely that the league will change its policy about ties, with the result existing since the NFL first came into existence. However, after continuing to tweak the overtime rules over the last decade, a better resolution could make fans like Daniel happier with how games end.
