Alabama vs. Georgia Head-to-Head Record

There are rivalries in college football, and then there is Alabama vs. Georgia. Alabama and Georgia have been facing off since 1895, when Georgia emerged victorious. Since then, the Crimson Tide has held a significant historical edge. Alabama has won 44 of its 74 matchups all-time against Georgia, the Bulldogs have won 26, and there have been four ties.

Alabama has the longest win streak in the history of the rivalry, winning seven games from 2008 to 2021. Georgia won five straight from 1910 to 1916 for their longest win streak. Since 1984, the two have met on 19 occasions, and Alabama has come away victorious in 14 of those, including in nine of the last ten. There was a stretch from 2002 to 2007 where the Bulldogs won three straight, but besides that, it has been all Alabama.

Alabama vs. Georgia Prediction

Alabama comes into Athens knowing that Georgia knows how recent history has played out head-to-head. They also know the expectations of being ranked as the fifth-best team in the nation. Coming off an incredible 44-41 overtime win on the road in Tennessee will also have them feeling good.

Alabama got punched in the mouth in its first game and has looked intense and focused. It is great to see these two teams locking horns, having played against good teams already, as I think that gets us the best matchups.

While the Bulldogs are coming off a win, if you look at the team rankings above, they are inferior to the Crimson Tide in all three key aspects of the game. I don’t think they will be able to put enough pressure on Ty Simpson, which will be trouble for Georgia.

Georgia is listed as the favorite in this game. It has an incredible pair of safeties and showed much poise in the Tennessee game. However, allowing 41 points to Tennessee exposed some things that Alabama can harp on and help them get ahead early and stay ahead. They must see Carson Beck at Miami and wonder what could’ve been if he had given them one more year.

If Georgia doesn’t stop the bleeding early, I think this could get ugly for them. Even though I expect Alabama to win, I trust Kirby Smart to keep the Bulldogs in the game enough that it will be a classic. However, I think that the combination of the Crimson Tide having lost and knowing how to handle Georgia historically will lead them to victory here.

Prediction: Alabama 37, Georgia 31
