The Carolina Panthers could be doing better; the NFC team is currently off 1-2 heading into Week 4, and has not played well.
Ahead of their upcoming Week 4 matchup at Gillette Stadium against the New England Patriots (also 1-2), more bad news for the Panthers could be on the horizon. Unfortunately for Carolina fans, Xavier Legette is on the injury report for this week.
What Is the Status Update on Xavier Legette Entering Week 4?
On the Thursday injury report, Legette was listed as out for practice due to a hamstring injury
Also listed on the injury report were linebacker Pat Jones (hamstring), tight end JT Sanders (ankle), linebacker DJ Wonnum (hip), running back Chuba Hubbard (calf), wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan (calf), and defensive tackle Turk Wharton (hamstring).
This was Legette’s second consecutive day being held from practice, alongside Wonnum, Sanders, and Jones. The young wideout got in a trio of limited practices last week with the hamstring issue, but was ultimately inactive for Week 3 against the Atlanta Falcons.
On Friday, the Panthers confirmed that Legette is out for Week 4. “Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard is questionable for Sunday vs. the Patriots due to a calf injury,” wrote NFL insider Adam Schefter. “WR Xavier Legette has ruled out.”
#Panthers attendance Thursday:
—Xavier Legette and Pat Jones II once again working out on the side together, not in pads
—Tetairoa McMillan (calf) & Hunter Renfrow are back
—Turk Wharton in full pads; looking like he’ll practice
—No JT Sanders; also don’t see DJ Wonnum https://t.co/ZyL7hB9tkQ pic.twitter.com/IBq7cX8iu0

Legette is a second-year wideout who has had a tough start to the season, managing just four receptions for eight yards on 15 targets through two games. He saw 497 receiving yards and four touchdowns during his rookie year.
The 6’3″, 227-pound player was originally a first-round (No. 32 overall) draft pick in 2024 after his college ball years at South Carolina.
As a Gamecock, Legette saw great success and a college career not riddled with injuries. He was the 2023-24 South Carolina Male Athlete of the Year in addition to being placed on the 2023 Senior Bowl All-American Team.
Fellow wide receiver David Moore played a position-high 97 percent of the offensive snaps last Sunday versus Atlanta and would likely be in line for increased reps again if Legette is once again unable to play.
Kick-off between the Panthers and new head coach Mike Vrabel’s Patriots is slated for 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday. Unfortunately, Carolina will be without their WR2 and all eyes will be on McMillan.
