Malik Nabers Injury Update: Latest on the Giants WR After He Missed Practice

Wednesday's practice for the Giants saw Malik Nabers miss practice, changing his status to questionable. Here's the latest on the star WR's status.

Needless to say, things aren’t looking too good for the New York Giants.

A 0-3 start is cause for concern for any team. This is the situation the Giants find themselves in. Despite winning all three games of the preseason, head coach Brian Daboll and his New York team have since fallen to the Commanders, Cowboys (OT), and the Chiefs. And now, it appears there’s some sort of injury update with wide receiver Malik Nabers.

What is the Status Update on Malik Nabers Entering Week 4?

On Wednesday afternoon, Daboll said before practice that Nabers would not take part. While specifics weren’t mentioned, it’s likely that this is just due to maintenance following the wideout making an appearance on the Giants’ injury report over the first two weeks of the season due to a back issue.

In addition to Nabers, running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and kicker Graham Gano also did not practice. Tracy is expected to miss two to four weeks with a separated shoulder, and Gano suffered a groin injury during pre-game warmups last Sunday.

Nabers returned to practice on Thursday, but was limited due to a back injury. The star receiver was not on the injury report on Friday and will be out on the field to help Jaxson Dart.

Nabers was drafted as the No. 6 overall pick by the Giants in 2024, coming out of LSU. He has recorded 251 yards and two touchdowns so far this year.

During his college years as a Tiger, Nabers was the nation’s top wide receiver as a junior in 2023, earning unanimous consensus All-America honors. He finished his time at LSU as the school’s all-time leader in receptions (189) and receiving yards (3,003).

Nabers has 1,455 career receiving yards and nine touchdowns so far, catching for a whopping 1,204 during his very first year in the league.

If Nabers missed this week’s game, it would have been a big blow to the Giants, as their upcoming matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers (3-0) will be tough for their offense regardless of the quarterback.

Although Nabers is healthy, the Giants will hope that his teammates and fellow wide receivers such as Darius Slayton, Jalin Hyatt, and Wan’Dale Robinson will step up against the elite Chargers’ defense.

Kick-off against the Chargers at MetLife Stadium is slated for 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.
