Malik Nabers Injury Update: Should Fantasy Managers Be Worried About the Giants WR’s Week 4 Status?

Malik Nabers popped up on Wednesday's practice report with a shoulder injury. Is the Giants WR at risk of missing Week 4?

The New York Giants struggled during Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs, managing just three points in a disappointing loss. Malik Nabers endured a frustrating evening that raised questions about his health status heading into Week 4. For fantasy football managers counting on the rookie receiver, what is the latest on his availability?

Malik Nabers Injury Update

During Sunday night’s contest against Kansas City, Nabers appeared to be dealing with some discomfort in his shoulder, but remained on the field. He was heavily covered by the Chiefs defense throughout the game and failed to record a single catch through almost three quarters of action. While his lack of production was concerning, he appeared healthy and continued trying to get open despite the defensive attention.

Russell Wilson attempted to find Nabers in the end zone late in the first half, but Jaylen Watson intercepted the pass intended for the rookie. Despite the struggles, Nabers was able to return to the game and finish the contest, suggesting any distress was manageable.

Nabers did not practice on Wednesday, which initially raises some concerns among fantasy managers. However, Wednesday practices are largely meaningless at this point in the season. We will frequently see veterans and top players receive Wednesday practices off if they have even the slightest of issues.

Given that Nabers was able to return to the game and complete Sunday night’s contest, his Wednesday absence sounds more precautionary than anything serious. The Giants likely want to give their star receiver extra rest following the primetime game and ensure he’s fully prepared for the upcoming week.

In all likelihood, Nabers will return to at least a limited practice session on Thursday. Teams typically ramp up their preparation as the week progresses, and Thursday’s session will be more telling about his actual availability for Sunday’s game.

At this point, fantasy managers should not be worried about the star receiver missing Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. His ability to finish the Chiefs game combined with the routine nature of Wednesday rest days suggests this is standard maintenance rather than a significant injury concern.

Thursday Update: Nabers did, in fact, return to a limited practice on Thursday. As much as we’d prefer to see “full,” his presence at all affirms my previous analysis that he should be good to go for this Sunday.

Nabers Fantasy Outlook

This game we play can be an emotional one.

Malik Nabers won you your Week 2 matchup with the best game of his career (nine catches for 167 yards and a pair of scores in Dallas), and vibes were high.

Maybe Russell Wilson has enough gas in the tank?

Easy come, easy go.

The Chiefs put an umbrella on this offense and required anyone besides #1 to beat them. He turned seven targets into just 13 yards, and there were no real missed opportunities when looking back at the tape.

Relax.

Nabers was great last season, right? Well, that stat line came with eight sub-70 yard performances despite earning 11.3 targets per game.

This was always going to be a volatile situation, and you picked Nabers anyway, believing that his talent would, more often than not, pay off.

I’m not thrilled about his upside this week as we navigate QB conversations and a defense that has allowed just two red zone touchdowns this season. That said, the volume profiles as safe, and the raw ability is overwhelming.

Nabers is still a WR1 for me.
