‘He’s Getting Fired’ — NFL Fans React to Titans HC Brian Callahan’s Bold Decision After 0–3 Start

Titans fans erupt after Brian Callahan hands playcalling to QB coach Bo Hardegree. At 0–3, many believe the head coach’s job is already on the line.

The Tennessee Titans are rapidly becoming one of the NFL’s most talked-about teams, but for all the wrong reasons. After a lopsided 41-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Brian Callahan’s record in his second season dropped to a dismal 3-17.

With the team sitting at 0-3 and fans losing patience, Callahan’s seat is getting hotter by the minute, forcing him to make a desperate move that has only intensified speculation about his future.

Why Did Brian Callahan Give Up Playcalling Duties?

Following the latest defeat, Callahan made a surprising announcement, declaring that he is handing over playcalling duties to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree. The move, intended to shake up an underperforming offense, has instead fueled widespread speculation that Callahan’s job may soon be on the line.

Frustrated fans wasted no time voicing their opinions online. One comment that perfectly captured the mood was: “He’s getting fired.”

This sentiment comes as no surprise, since Tennessee has been outscored 94-51 through three games. Additionally, moments of indecisiveness, such as the costly delay of the game before halftime against the Colts, have drawn sharp criticism.

Many believe Callahan’s decision to delegate playcalling is too little, too late, and will not be enough to save his job if the losing streak continues.

Others were quick to poke fun at the unusual chain of command. The decision to pass playcalling duties not to the offensive coordinator, Nick Holz, but to quarterback coach Bo Hardegree raised eyebrows.

As one fan put it, “Titans are so bad that the HC gave up play calling to their quarterback coach and not their OC 😂.” The remark highlights just how baffling the decision looks from the outside, with many questioning whether it reflects a lack of trust in the offensive coordinator or is simply an act of desperation.

For many, the verdict on Callahan’s future already feels sealed. One blunt reaction summed it up: “He’s cooked.” With a 3-17 record since his hire, the numbers speak for themselves. Fans and analysts alike point to Tennessee’s recent track record, which includes firing either a head coach or general manager in three consecutive seasons, as a clear sign that Callahan could be next.

Is This the Beginning of the End for Callahan?

Some even view this situation as the inevitable downfall already unfolding. As one fan stated, “Beginning of the end.” The Titans’ 0-3 start, coupled with an offense that still hasn’t found its rhythm, leaves little room for optimism. Each passing week suggests that the organization may be preparing for yet another major change at the top.

The harshest criticism, however, goes beyond just losing games and centers on Callahan’s poor game management. His costly timeout decisions in the Colts game turned a manageable 57-yard field goal attempt into a 62-yarder, which kicker Joey Slye ultimately missed. One fan quipped, “Brian Callahan should announce his firing after the season.” While extreme, this comment reflects how little faith remains among the fanbase that he can turn the ship around.

Perhaps the sharpest jab of all was a social media post declaring Callahan an “#outoftheleaguecaliber coach.” While social media can often be unforgiving, the sentiment illustrates just how far the confidence in Tennessee’s leadership has fallen.

Unless Brian Callahan and the Titans can rally quickly, his bold decision to give up playcalling may be remembered not as a solution, but as the final act of a short-lived tenure in Tennessee.
