NFL Analyst Throws Shade at Derrick Henry After Ravens Star’s Costly Error vs. Lions

Skip Bayless criticized Derrick Henry after the Ravens running back fumbled for the third consecutive game in Baltimore's 38-30 loss to Detroit.

Unfortunately for the Baltimore Ravens, running back Derrick Henry has fumbled for the third game in a row. This time, it came in a pivotal moment for the Ravens, with the game in the fourth quarter and just over eight minutes left to play, with only a four-point difference.

Henry was visibly frustrated following his fumble, even slamming his helmet in frustration on a nearby bench. Ultimately, Baltimore was not able to recover; they lost to the Detroit Lions following the play, 38-30.

Derrick Henry Blamed for Loss to Detroit Lions

This latest loss means the Ravens now fall to a 1-2 overall record on their year start. Henry concluded the matchup against Detroit by rushing for 50 yards and one touchdown across 12 carries.

Despite that, NFL writer and sports commentator Skip Bayless partially blamed Henry for this latest loss.

“CHECK THAT: DHenry just coughed it AGAIN,” Bayless said on his X account of over three million followers.

Henry was drafted to the NFL with the No. 45 overall selection by Tennessee back in 2016, following his college years with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

He joined the Ravens during the 2024 offseason on a two-year deal as the Titans moved on from the Henry-Mike Vrabel-Ryan Tannehill era over that winter.

This latest fumble, unfortunately, likely does not come as a surprise to fans; Henry is quite prone to them and has a track record of 23 fumbles across 10 years in the league. His career-high in fumbles per season came in 2019 (five), but he’s already fumbled in every game played this year.

Though Henry is not without his strengths.

The league veteran stands at 6’2″, weighing 252 pounds, and is one of just nine players to gain 2,000-plus yards in a single season (2020). He’s also led the NFL in rushing twice, rushing touchdowns three times, and bludgeoned run defenses on his way to ranking No. 19 on the NFL’s all-time rushing yards leaderboard.

So far in the 2025 season, this was his third fumble of the year, unfortunately, already just two shy of his previously mentioned career-high of five.

Henry and Baltimore’s next game comes quickly after a six-day turnaround that has the Ravens traveling to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. Hopefully for Henry, he can log his first game of the season without a fumble and prioritize his ball security.
