Monday Night Football has a marquee matchup on tap. The Detroit Lions travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. Both teams have Super Bowl aspirations, but they enter the game with 1-1 records after losing to bitter rivals in Week 1.
The Lions ran into a buzzsaw in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, who thoroughly smothered their high-powered offense in a 27-13 loss that included the Packers riding the emotional high of the debut of pass rusher Micah Parsons.
The Ravens blew a 15-point lead on the road against the Buffalo Bills, ruining their Week 1. After a Derrick Henry fumble in the fourth quarter, Josh Allen and the Bills stormed back in the final five minutes to win 41-40.
Both teams bounced back for wins in Week 2, with the Ravens beating down the Cleveland Browns 41-17 and the Lions shellacking the Chicago Bears 52-21. Both teams want to keep pace within their divisions while making a statement on national television.

What to Watch For From Detroit
The Lions had to answer many questions about Ben Johnson after their Week 1 loss to the Packers. They silenced many critics against the Bears in Week 2, but they are now set to face one of the NFL’s best defenses.
Jared Goff is at his best when he works from a clean pocket and gets to use a lot of play-action. Everything with him is about timing, precision, and getting the ball out on schedule.
If the Lions can get Jahmyr Gibbs going on the ground, it will make it easier for Goff to connect with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown downfield and tight end Sam LaPorta underneath.
The Lions’ biggest challenge will be keeping Goff from facing too much pressure from Baltimore’s pass rush.
What to Watch For From Baltimore
Baltimore’s calling card is its top-shelf running game. At 31 years of age, Derrick Henry is still performing at an elite level, and he’s already racked up 29 carries for 192 yards and two touchdowns in just two games.
Add in two-time MVP (2019, 2023) quarterback Lamar Jackson, and you have a witches’ brew that can poison almost any defense. Jackson enters tonight’s contest with a 68.4 completion percentage, 434 passing yards, and six touchdown passes with no interceptions. He also has eight carries for 83 yards and a touchdown.
The Ravens defense will be tasked with keeping the Lions offense off-balance. As mentioned, collapsing Goff’s passing pocket and forcing him to work off schedule is the best way to get to him.
The schedule makers couldn’t have done much better for an early-season potential Super Bowl preview.
