Deion Sanders Makes Bold Prediction About Shedeur Sanders’ Future With Browns

NFL legend Deion Sanders recently made a bold prediction on his son Shedeur Sanders' future with the Cleveland Browns.

Despite sitting third on the Cleveland Browns’ depth chart, Shedeur Sanders maintains an ardent supporter: his father. The relationship between father and son can be complicated, especially when the father is a head coach and the son is a former player.

Questions about impartiality and bias often play a role in the proceedings; however, when the parent is also a Hall of Fame cornerback, that raises the stakes of comments and the outlook.

Deion Sanders Predicts Shedeur Sanders Will Play for Browns in 2025

Sanders led all of FBS in completion percentage last season. If you include Deshaun Watson, he sits on a roster with three other quarterbacks. Chances remain high, barring injury, that he may not see the field this season in Cleveland.

All of those statements remain true. Yet, his father believes the contrary. As a guest on the “New Heights” podcast, the University of Colorado head coach made his claims.

“Be patient and be ready. You have to be ready when it’s time,” Sanders said. “But, when it’s time, you’re going to know. And it’s coming up. I got a prediction, and I ain’t telling nobody. I got a feeling when it’s gon’ go down. But it’s going to go down this year. Yeah, he gon’ get a shot.”

While the interview was presumably filmed before Cleveland’s 13-10 comeback victory over Green Bay, the points made bear examination. Flacco did not enjoy a great day against the Packers. He didn’t exactly move the ball, completing only 58.3% of his passes and throwing for just 142 yards along with one interception.

In fact, it took a Grant Delpit interception and a blocked field goal to place Cleveland in the position to win the game. The team stayed within striking distance, with 94 rushing yards from rookie Quinshon Judkins. Credit Flacco for not outright losing the game, but defense and special teams were the stars.

Now, the Browns head to Detroit to face a Lions team that loves to create havoc at the line of scrimmage and boasts a Pro Bowl safety in Brian Branch, looking to jump a route and make a play. Sanders’ road becomes tougher because fellow rookie Dillion Gabriel inhabits the backup spot.

Gabriel and Flacco would both need to suffer an injury or a prolonged bout of ineffectiveness for him just to see the field. In the eyes of head coach Kevin Stefanski, Sanders is his third option under center. Can this change in time, with the Browns venturing deeper into the season?
