The Week 3 game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams was one for the ages. After an instant classic in their divisional round matchup, the stage was set for the two teams to face off once again in less than a year. Their rematch turned out to be as good as, if not better than, advertised, with the Eagles pulling off a miraculous comeback to win 33-26.
However, the game also served as more than a case of bragging rights for the last two Super Bowl winners from the NFC. As he gave a post-match interview in the locker room, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to spot Philadelphia defensive tackle Jalen Carter wearing a familiar-looking chain, usually seen on last year’s Defensive Rookie of the Year, Jared Verse.
Did Jalen Carter Win Jared Verse’s Chain?
Both Verse and Carter had some heated words back in January when the two sides collided in the 2024 NFL playoffs. Before the game, Verse took a lap on the Eagles’ side of the field, which Carter did not take too kindly to.
However, nearly a year later, it seemed like the relationship dynamics between the two had improved, with the two interacting before the game. After both players made the Pro Bowl last season, there seems to be a mutual respect between the two.
But that still didn’t explain the rather peculiar sights fans saw in the locker room. During his interview with reporters, it was impossible not to notice the gigantic diamond chain with the number 8Â on it that Carter had around his neck.
For fans familiar with the Rams’ sophomore, it was an accessory worth upwards of $100,000Â that he regularly wore. As a result, it started speculation about how the Eagles’ superstar found it around his neck.
Some believed the two had bet the chain on the game, as Dov Kleiman wrote on X, “Wild: Jalen Carter has Jared Verse’s chain. It’s rumored he lost the chain in a bet over who would win today. Pretty insane to bet a $100K+ chain on a game.”

The chain, if genuinely put up for a bet, was fingertips away from remaining in last year’s first-round pick’s grasp. Jumping out to a 26-7 lead, Los Angeles seemed to be in firm control of the game.
However, a rally in the second half saw the Eagles score 26 unanswered points, paving the way for a 33-26 victory, following two blocked field goals shutting down any chances of a Rams victory.
