‘Get Russell Wilson off My Team’ — Giants Fans Slam Russell Wilson After QB’s Horrific Mistakes vs. Chiefs

Russell Wilson's rough first half against the Chiefs has Giants fans calling for benching as frustrations with the veteran QB boil over.

The Russell Wilson experiment in New York is already feeling the heat. Wilson had shown flashes of stability through two weeks, keeping the Giants competitive despite an 0-2 start.

But under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium, those flashes disappeared, and the boos, and tweets, came pouring in.

How Did Russell Wilson Play Against the Chiefs?

At halftime against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Giants trailed just 9-6, but the scoreboard didn’t reflect the frustration boiling in the stands and on social media. Wilson entered the break, completing only 7 of 13 passes for a mere 39 yards.

Worse, he threw two interceptions, both underthrown attempts that stalled promising drives and shifted momentum back to Kansas City.

It wasn’t just the turnovers. It was the missed opportunities. The Giants’ defense had held the explosive Chiefs offense in check, yet the offense couldn’t capitalize. Fans weren’t shy about pointing fingers directly at Wilson.

“Russell Wilson is so bad,” one fan bluntly posted.

“GET RUSSELL WILSON OFF MY TEAM,” another wrote, echoing the chorus of boos inside MetLife.

The criticism piled on from all corners of social media.

“Russell Wilson is on Joe Flacco level,” a fan joked, referencing the former Super Bowl MVP whose late-career decline has become a shorthand for aging quarterbacks who’ve lost their spark.

Others were even harsher. “Alright, time to bench Russell Wilson, he’s back to being washed,” said one.

Another quipped, “Russell Wilson is so bad. Mr. Unplayable.”

And perhaps the most cutting jab: “Russell Wilson should be in jail for robbing these teams.”

The frustration is understandable. Wilson was brought in on a one-year deal to stabilize the Giants’ quarterback position while rookie Jaxson Dart develops.

Will Jaxson Dart Get a Chance to Play Soon?

So far, Wilson has provided brief moments of competence, like his solid outing against the Cowboys in Week 2, but nights like this remind fans of the player Pittsburgh let walk away just months ago.

The stakes couldn’t be higher heading into the second half. If Wilson steadies himself and guides the Giants to their first win of the season, talk of a quarterback change will cool, at least temporarily. But if his struggles continue and the Giants fall to 0-3, the drumbeat for Dart to take over will only get louder.

Wilson was supposed to be the bridge. Right now, fans are questioning whether he’s more than a liability. And in New York, patience runs out fast
