The Chicago Bears are on the board with their first season victory after dismantling the Dallas Cowboys. The Bears had a rough two weeks to start the season, getting their doors blown off by the Detroit Lions and squandering a late lead to J.J. McCarthy and the Minnesota Vikings in their season opener. But that doesn’t matter now after a great Week 3 performance.
Caleb Williams made it a memorable day for new head coach Ben Johnson as he tallied his first NFL win as a head coach.
Caleb Williams’ Gift to Ben Johnson After the Win
Johnson was pumped to avoid moving to 0-3 and instead notch an important win to instill confidence in the team for the rest of the season. After the win, Johnson delivered his postgame speech and gave Williams a game ball for his great performance against Dallas. Williams earned a game ball as he threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns.
Williams returned the favor, though, giving a game ball to Johnson for his first win as an NFL head coach. After giving him the ball, the players mobbed Johnson, celebrating the victory.
“It’s boss man’s first home victory,” said Williams during his speech to Johnson and the team.

As a matter of fact, it’s more than just Johnson’s first home victory. It’s his first overall win and a pivotal win to avoid a disastrous start to their 2025 season. It wasn’t pretty at the start of the year, but this could be the turning point for Chicago, where they finally kick into gear and rattle off some wins.
The team took advantage of a Dallas team that struggled on the offensive side of the ball and the loss of CeeDee Lamb to an ankle injury. The Bears won’t care as they can only control what’s in front of them, and they did just that. They came to play and took the game to Dallas from the first quarter to the fourth.
Johnson was brought in as an offensive mastermind and was pivotal in the Detroit Lions’ offensive dominance in the past few seasons. He looked like he unlocked something in Williams in the Week 3 contest, and rookie WR Luther Burden III also had a breakout game. After not having more than five yards in a game, Burden caught three balls for 101 yards and a touchdown.
Things are looking up in Chicago after a pretty grim start to the season. The Bears are heading to Las Vegas in Week 4 with a chance to move back to .500Â and recover from their tough start to the year. Bears fans will be hoping for a performance that resembles Week 3 rather than the first two and another Williams masterclass to build on in the future.
