Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce made a great catch off of a pass from Colts quarterback Daniel Jones, but hit the ground awfully hard in the Colts game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Pierce went up for the reception over a Titans defender, but came crashing down and immediately started writhing in pain on the field.
What Happened to Alec Pierce?
After the play, Colts medical personnel checked on Pierce’s health.
He left the game and went to the sidelines, but was taken to the locker room. It looked like Pierce hit his head on the turf after the catch. Pierce has now been ruled out of the rest of Sunday’s game.
Alec Pierce gave up his body to go up and make this play. His head hit the ground pretty hard here. Hope he’s alright.#Colts#ForTheShoe#Titans#INDvsTEN pic.twitter.com/oyl9upUY5p

Pierce is one of those receivers that Jones counts on to make the Colts offense go. Missing him from the field for any length of time will not help Indianapolis out at all. Indianapolis was up on the Titans 34-13 as the third quarter was winding down.
Pierce was a second-round draft pick out of Cincinnati for Indianapolis in the 2022 NFL Draft. On the season, Pierce has five catches for 104 yards and no touchdowns. He had one catch against the Miami Dolphins and three against the Denver Broncos in the Colts’ first two games of the 2025 NFL season.
In his career, Pierce has 115 catches for 2,035 yards and 11 touchdown receptions. During his first three seasons in the NFL, Pierce had 41, 32 and 37 catches. Obviously, Pierce has been somewhat productive for Indianapolis and the Colts need him out on the field.
Daniel Jones Has Solid WR In Pierce
Should Pierce not be able to return, it looks like Indianapolis might be able to secure the victory without him. The Colts have found some life on offense with Jones running it this season. Pierce appears to be a solid target for Jones when looking downfield.
Indianapolis is looking to be a team involved in their divisional race. The Colts have struggled with Anthony Richardson at quarterback with him being injured and not able to effectively run the team’s offense.
With Jones running the offense and with his experience in the league, it looks like the Colts have found a solid signal-caller. Pierce can look for Jones to find him in clutch moments during games. Should it be a head injury and possible concussion, the Colts will have to watch him carefully for the rest of this game.
