‘Absolute Disgrace’ — Calls Mount From Bengals Fans for NFL to ‘Investigate’ Ron Torbert Over Controversial Officiating vs. Vikings

Referee Ron Torbert has once again come under fire from Cincinnati Bengals fans for controversial officiating in the Vikings match.

Cincinnati Bengals fans are not happy with what they saw in Sunday’s matchup against the Vikings. The Bengals were already down 14-0 by the conclusion of the first quarter, and the fans have criticized NFL official Ronald Torbert.

Bengals Fans Calling for Firing of Ron Torbert

Torbert has been a game official in the league since April 2010.

According to his LinkedIn, he’s also an attorney and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1988. But despite his high level of intellect, pretty much every fan who tunes into the game still questions the flags and penalties called on the Bengals.

“One play and Ron Torbert & company throw two flags on the Bengals. And we are off,” said ‘The Athletic’ writer Paul Dehner Jr.

“Ron Torbert should be banned from officiating Bengals games,” Barstool Cincinnati posted on X.

“Ron Torbert is the worst That’s an insane penalty to call,” another fan said.

Robert has 15 years of experience as an NFL official and was the referee for Super Bowl 59. Rumors previously swirled online that he was fired from the league, which was clearly, unfortunately, not true for Cincinnati fans.

Torbert has exasperated Bengals fans, players, and coaches in recent years as he has worked two of the biggest losses in the Joe Burrow era. Additionally, his recent game with Cincinnati in Week 7 last year, when there were more complaints about communication and missed calls.

It’s also worth mentioning when Torbert was originally scheduled to referee Cincinnati’s season finale against the Steelers last season, but league pulled him from that assignment and replaced him with John Hussey.

“I [redacted] hate Ron Torbert,” another fan said.

“[Redacted] Ron Torbert. Absolute disgrace to the profession of officiating. Man calls games as if he’s betting his house on bengals opposition,” another Cincinnati fan posted on X.

“This isn’t even a joke. Ron Torbert should be investigated regarding his bias against Cincy. Dude is awful,” one other NFL watcher said.

The Bengals are currently 2-0 on the season, before the conclusion of play against the Vikings (1-1). The Bengals will next take on the Denver Broncos on September 29, 2025.
