What Did Troy Aikman Say About Dak Prescott?

Speaking on 96.7 The Ticket, Aikman praised Prescott’s presence, confidence, and fit within Dallas’s offense through two games. “I have been impressed with Dak, certainly Week 1 and what he was able to do and then this last game. He’s always had good energy. He’s always had good body language and all that on the field,” Aikman said.

“But in addition to just how well he’s played, I just sense that there’s a confidence about him in the way in which he’s playing that I don’t want to say I haven’t seen it before, but I just feel like he’s really dialed in and feeling good about where this offense is going, the way that it’s playing, and the way he’s playing.”

Aikman added that Prescott’s comfort reflects trust in the play-calling and overall design. “And usually, to have that, you feel really good about the plays that are coming in and who’s calling them. It just seems to be a pretty good fit right now for Dak and what I’ve seen just as a casual observer.”

The Hall of Famer also offered a strong endorsement of Prescott’s championship ambition and leadership. “I love Dak. There’s nothing I’d rather see than see him go on and win a Super Bowl and win multiple Super Bowls, and win more than me, and Roger (Staubach) and all of us combined, if possible, because he’s that type of guy, and he represents himself and the organization, and really our city so well.”

How Have the Cowboys Fared in Their Start to the 2025 NFL Season?

Dallas’s 1-1 opening underscores the “mixed” label. Within that split, Prescott’s efficiency and decision-making drew positive reviews, aligning with Aikman’s “really dialed in” assessment and reinforcing the sense that the quarterback is operating confidently in a system that suits him.

The defense has shown flashes and flaws, situational stops against New York offset by big plays allowed, leaving Dallas to tidy details as the schedule tightens. Offensively, the early data support the eye test.

Prescott’s completion rate and intermediate accuracy have kept the attack on schedule, while late-game execution in the Giants’ win steadied the opening stretch narrative after the narrow Week 1 loss.

Aikman’s comments come as Dallas splits its first two games. With the Chicago Bears up Sunday, the Cowboys need cleaner execution, play designs aligned with Prescott’s reads, steadier protection, and better red-zone finishes, fixes that can turn a mixed start into momentum.
