Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren has proven to be a very important part of the Colts’ offensive plans in his first NFL season. He’s not only valuable when it comes to catching passes out in the flat, but also as an option in the Colts’ run game.

What’s Happening with Tyler Warren?

Warren was not able to practice on Wednesday with the Colts due to a toe injury. The star tight end and his teammate, Josh Downs, who is working to recover from an ankle injury, did not take the practice field.

Fortunately for the Colts, Warren returned to practice on Thursday. However, he was limited in the practice, but it is still a step in the right direction for the rookie. He was also limited on Friday and was listed as questionable for the Week 3 game against the Titans.

On Saturday, Warren was ultimately cleared to play in the Week 3 game against the Titans.

Currently, Warren leads all NFL tight ends in receiving yards. He’s become a powerful receiving option for Colts head coach Shane Steichen.

Warren, who played his college ball at Penn State under head coach James Franklin, was the 14th overall pick by the Colts in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 6’6″, 256-pound tight end has 11 total receptions in two games for 155 yards, a 14.1 yards-per-reception average.

Tyler Warren Fantasy Outlook

For fantasy football players, what is the outlook for Warren heading into Week 3 games? PFSN’s Jason Katz offers some perspective on the Colts’ rookie tight end.

“It’s only been two weeks, but I’m ready to anoint Tyler Warren as the next elite tight end,” Katz wrote. “For years, we saw Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham dominate the position. They gave way to Travis Kelce and George Kittle. Warren is next.

“The first-round rookie has been nothing short of spectacular to start his young career,” Katz wrote. “Warren is still looking for his first touchdown, but has posted double-digit fantasy points in back-to-back weeks. That is not something many tight ends can do.

“If you drafted Warren, congratulations,” Katz wrote. “You have an every-week no-doubter TE1. He is Daniel Jones’ top target and is a strong bet to finish as a top-three tight end on the season.”
