How Are Team Europe Players Spending Their Time Ahead of Laver Cup?

A photo posted on X shows the four tennis stars dressed in golf attire on a San Francisco golf course. The image quickly gained attention from tennis and golf fans alike.

Alcaraz has made no secret of his passion for golf. The 22-year-old Spanish star started playing golf seriously in early 2020 and has fallen in love with the sport. He often plays golf during his free time between tennis matches and tournaments. The sport helps him relax and stay calm away from tennis pressures.

The US Open champion currently has a golf handicap of 14, meaning a player’s potential ability to typically shoot 14 strokes over par on a course of standard difficulty. During this year’s US Open, he played golf with Spanish golf legend Sergio Garcia. After each of his wins at Flushing Meadows, he celebrated by mimicking a golf swing with his tennis racket.

Golf has become popular among many tennis players. Alcaraz often travels with his golf clubs and tries to play whenever his schedule allows. He says walking between holes helps him forget everything else and just enjoy the moment with friends.

Alcaraz Gears up for Laver Cup After US Open Win

Alcaraz is fresh off his biggest win of 2025. Just over a week ago, he defeated Jannik Sinner in the US Open final to claim his sixth Grand Slam title. The victory helped him reclaim the world number one ranking for the first time since September 2023.

The Spanish star had an incredible run at Flushing Meadows. He reached the final without dropping a single set and was broken just three times throughout the tournament. His win over Sinner came in four sets with scores of 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

After his US Open triumph, Alcaraz withdrew from Spain’s Davis Cup qualifiers against Denmark. The matches were scheduled for Sept. 13-14. Alcaraz cited fatigue and the need for mental rest after his demanding schedule.

Alcaraz is in San Francisco for the Laver Cup, which runs from Sept. 19 to 21. He will represent Team Europe alongside Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, Jakub Mensik, and Flavio Cobolli.

Looking ahead, Alcaraz will make his debut at the Japan Open in Tokyo from September 24-30. This will be his first time playing in a tournament in Japan. He chose to skip defending his China Open title in Beijing and play in Tokyo instead.

After Japan, he will compete in the Shanghai Masters and Paris Masters and conclude his season at the ATP Finals in Turin.
