Washington Capitals Preseason Schedule in the Spotlight: Ticketing Info, Matchups, and More

With the preseason just days away, here's everything you need to know about the Capitals' schedule, ticket info, and blockbuster summer moves.

Washington fans have been waiting all summer to see their team take the ice once again, as Alex Ovechkin remains just three goals away from the historic landmark of 900 regular-season goals. But that wait has finally come to an end.

Starting this Sunday, the Capitals will finally kick off their preseason, giving fans their first look at the team since their playoff series against the Hurricanes.

When Can Capitals Fans First See Their Team Back in Action?

After an unremarkable summer, the Washington Capitals will finally return to action with their first preseason game on Sept. 21. They will travel to TD Garden to face the Boston Bruins. Puck drop is set for 5 PM EDT.

The Capitals will then return home for their second contest on Sept. 25, when they will host the Philadelphia Flyers at the GIANT Center, home of their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. That game is scheduled for 7 PM EDT.

Next, they hit the road for a game against the New Jersey Devils on Sept. 28 at Prudential Center, starting at 7 PM EDT. They follow that with a visit to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sept. 30 at Nationwide Arena, slated for 7 PM EDT.

Washington will then close out the preseason with back-to-back home games at Capital One Arena: a rematch against the Bruins on Oct. 2 and another against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 4. Both games are scheduled for 7 PM EDT.

Where Can Washington Fans Get Their Tickets for the Preseason Games?

Fans can purchase tickets for single games, group packages, or ticket bundles through the Capitals’ website. The team’s official partners also sell tickets.

Ticketmaster is the official ticket marketplace for the NHL and will have tickets available for every game, including the preseason games.

Single-game tickets go on sale Sept. 15, starting at $26 on Vivid Seats. Fans can also grab their tickets from other official partners such as StubHub and Gametime.

Capitals’ Summer Recap: Major Additions and Key Departures

Despite a slow summer, the Capitals still made a few moves over the offseason. They brought in RW Justin Sourdif from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2027 draft.

In addition to this, they also acquired D-man Declan Chisholm from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for their blueliner, Chase Priskie. Meanwhile, names like Andrew Mangiapane, Taylor Raddysh, and Lars Eller left in free agency to join the likes of the Oilers, the Rangers, and the Senators.

The Capitals also picked up free agents Graeme Clarke and Calle Rosén on one-year deals, while Anthony Beauvillier was re-signed to a two-year deal. Additionally, veteran forward T.J. Oshie announced his retirement after not playing last season because of an injury.

With many experienced players out of the rotation and a bunch of fresh faces, the Capitals and ‘Ovi’ will be looking to have a better postseason run this time around.
