The Atlanta Falcons are in danger of starting the 2025 season 0-2. After falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their opener, they now face a tough road matchup against the 1-0 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football.
Adding to the pressure, star receiver Drake London could be sidelined after suffering an injury late in the Tampa Bay game. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris recently provided an update on London’s status ahead of the Vikings game.
Will Falcons’Â Drake London Play Sunday?
The Falcons’ game against the Buccaneers was one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. Both teams went back and forth, and it came down to the wire, with Atlanta missing a game-tying field goal to seal their fate.
Late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Michael Penix targeted London in the end zone.
London went up to grab the ball but landed awkwardly on his right arm, suffering a shoulder sprain.

Earlier this week, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that London had been listed as day-to-day. However, Morris provided an update on Wednesday, telling reporters that he expects the receiver to play against Minnesota.
Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said wide receiver Drake London (shoulder) will practice right away: “Drake is Drake. He’s ultimately tough. … I do expect him to play.”

#UPDATE: The Falcons have confirmed that London is fully healthy to play on Sunday against the Vikings.
“Raheem Morris says both Drake London and Darnell Mooney do not have an injury designation for Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings,” wrote Falcons insider Will McFadden. “The Falcons should have their top two receivers for this prime-time matchup.”
The Falcons drafted London with the No. 8 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, and he’s been a central piece of their offense ever since. To this point in his career, he’s amassed 249 receptions for 3,097 yards and 15 touchdowns.
London has been playing his best football since Penix took over as the team’s starter in the final three games of the 2024 season. In those games, the duo connected on 22 passes for 352 yards and two touchdowns, with Penix targeting London 39 times.
That chemistry carried into this year’s opener against Tampa Bay, where London again emerged as Penix’s top target, hauling in eight receptions for 55 yards.
The Falcons’ matchup against the Vikings will be broadcast on NBC at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday, September 14.
