D.J. Moore Injury Update: Latest on Bears WR After Scary Hit vs. Vikings on MNF

Trying to mount a comeback in the fourth quarter, the Chicago Bears suffered a scary sight after DJ Moore suffered a brutal hit against the Vikings.

It has all gone downhill in dramatic fashion for the Chicago Bears. After taking a 17-3 lead in the game and thoroughly dominating for three quarters, the fourth quarter has paved the way for a miraculous comeback by the Minnesota Vikings, who scored three-straight touchdowns to take a 27-17 lead.

With less than three minutes left in the game, the Bears tried to get the ball moving as quickly as possible. However, it may have cost them dearly, as DJ Moore went down with a brutal hit on the field.

What Happened to DJ Moore?

It was shaping up to be a strong game for Moore, as he tallied 57 yards on nine catches, leading the team in receiving yards. Down 10 and needing a miracle, the Bears once again turned to him on a 3rd and 10 opportunity.

Not only did Caleb Williams get a roughing the passer call, but Moore got sandwiched between two Vikings defenders, immediately falling to the ground off the incompletion. It took him a while to get off the ground, and he was carted to the sidelines.

However, his time there was short-lived as he was back on the field after the very next play. The Bears were able to score in a hurry, recording a touchdown to Rome Odunze to bring the score within three.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as the Vikings were able to chew out ample time on the clock to only allow nine seconds on the final Bears drive. Chicago couldn’t make a miracle happen, leading to a 27-24 loss to begin the season.

Despite making a heroic return to the field, Moore was a non-factor on the final drive, trying to make a big play happen via laterals. During the game, it became clear that he’s going to be holding the WR1 mantle for some time, as Odunze still appears to be a work in progress.

As a result, his responsibility will be enormous in Ben Johnson’s first season as head coach. His availability and production could significantly determine the trajectory of Williams’ career.

Moore finished the game with three receptions for 70 yards on five targets. It will be interesting to see whether he will play next week against the Detroit Lions.
