The San Francisco 49ers are off to a rough start in 2025, especially in the kicking game. The Niners find themselves locked in a battle with the Seattle Seahawks, and in a game where every point is more precious than gold, even a missed field goal, much less an extra point, can swing the outcome.
What is Wrong With the 49ers’ Kicking Game?
Apparently, a lot. Jake Moody is having a tough day. Kyle Shanahan had this reaction when Moody missed his first field goal attempt of the 2025 season.

Then this happened late in the third quarter with the Niners down 10-7 and hoping to tie the game.

Fans took to social media to criticize the Niners’ leadership of Shanahan and general manager John Lynch.
One poster wrote, “Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch need to be careful of their next steps. Their players are frustrated. If they keep Moody, the next step is usually checking out mentally. That’s when coaches and GMs get fired.”

Meanwhile, another fan pointed out the irony in Shanahan’s reaction, posting, “Why’s Shanahan mad at Moody? You’re the one that was hyping him up all offseason.”

One fan was more direct and said, “This is on you Shanahan and Lynch you keep Jake moody on the team and special teams is the problem.”

Another fan vented, “Shanahan lost the locker room keeping Moody around, now we can finally get him fired.”
Even so, the Niners came away with a 17-13 victory.
