Björn Borg is one of the greatest tennis players of all time and attained a lot of success during his playing days despite having a short career which came to an end when he was only 21. Recently, a video of Lionel Messi after Argentina’s only defeat in the 2022 World Cup to Saudi Arabia surfaced, and the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was seen wearing shorts from Björn Borg’s company. Argentina, of course, turned things around quickly and went on to win the tournament after beating France in an enthralling final via a penalty shootout.

So, where does Borg’s clothing brand trace back to? The former World No. 1 co-founded the company in 1989 alongside Anders Arnborger and Louise Hildebeck. The company started selling underwear before making further advancements in the clothing industry. It got named Björn Borg in 2017.
The company had a moment of controversy in 2008 when two pairs of its underwear contained high amounts of nonylphenol ethoxylate (NPE), a substance that is banned in the EU due to its adverse effects on the environment.
Presently, Borg’s clothing brand has 11 stores across four countries, namely, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, and Finland.
Borg Revealed Prostate Cancer Diagnosis in Memoir
The Swede’s upcoming Memoir, titled “Heartbeats” had a startling revelation in its final chapter, as he mentioned he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Borg said that he is currently in remission after undergoing an operation in 2024.
“I have nothing right now. But every six months I have to go and check myself. The whole process, it’s not a fun thing. But I’m OK. I’m fine. And I’m feeling very good,” the 69-year-old said.

Borg had an impressive tennis career, during which, he won 11 Grand Slams while still in his mid-20s. These included five successive titles at Wimbledon and six French Open triumphs. He was involved in the sport over the past few years as the captain of Team Europe in the Laver Cup before being replaced by Yannick Noah.
