This is a make-or-break year for the Miami Dolphins. Despite a plethora of talent on the roster, the organization hasn’t been able to take the next step into being a Super Bowl contender. Another failure to elevate themselves beyond the rest of the competition in the AFC might result in management blowing the team up.
Their test begins in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. But the situation is already looking bleak for the roster. With three players already ruled out for the game, Miami has to prepare by relying heavily on its star-studded offense. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa appears to be fully healthy heading into the matchup.
But the biggest cause of concern for the franchise has to be the status of Tyreek Hill. After a drama-filled offseason, the superstar wide receiver has been nursing an injury, leaving his status for Week 1 up in the air.
What Happened to Tyreek Hill?
When the 2024 season came to a conclusion, there were genuine doubts about whether Hill would even remain on the Dolphins roster by the start of next season. At the time, he walked out of the locker room following an incendiary rant to reporters.
Even though he retracted his words later on, the situation was highly uncertain. Ultimately, though, Miami chose to keep him on the roster. But, during the preseason, he suffered a mysterious ailment that turned out to be an oblique injury.
It kept him out of joint practices against the Chicago Bears, with head coach Mike Mcdaniel stating, “He’s working through an oblique that got worse because he was taking every rep that was on the books. Right now, we’re trying to prevent it from being a lingering thing.”
Coming off a down year, where he failed to tally 1,000 yards for the first time this decade, after adding over 1,700 yards in back-to-back seasons, no less, Hill would surely have been looking to turn the tide in his favor.
Will Hill Play Against the Colts?
For the Miami fan base, the last week has given them some increasingly positive updates on the eight-time Pro Bowler’s front. Completely off the injury report, he seems to be a full go for the game against Indianapolis.

As confirmation, ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques confirmed on X, “Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane are ‘absolutely’ on track to play Sunday vs the Colts, per McDaniel.” With their best receiver and running back ready to suit up, the Dolphins should be able to take care of the Colts.
