Why Is Andy Reid “So Pissed Off” About the Chiefs Being Doubted?

Appearing on “Up And Adams,” McCoy spoke openly about his former coach’s current state of mind.

“I was blessed to play for the Chiefs and got a championship, my first one. And I know Patrick Mahomes,” McCoy said. Despite all the questions surrounding Kansas City, the former running back emphasized that Reid’s team always delivers when the stakes are highest.

McCoy finds the level of doubt surrounding the Chiefs baffling. Even when Mahomes isn’t playing at peak form, the quarterback consistently guides Kansas City deep into the playoffs. According to McCoy, the constant debates about whether the Chiefs can beat Buffalo or Baltimore ignore years of proven success.

However, McCoy reserved his strongest comments for Reid’s reaction to the skepticism. “He is so pissed off because when you do so much in this league and they disrespect you like that,” McCoy explained. Behind Reid’s jovial public persona and lighthearted commercials lies a coach motivated by perceived slights.

What Should Fans Expect From the Chiefs’ Offense This Season?

McCoy’s predictions go beyond just motivation. He expects a more aggressive Kansas City offense, with Mahomes pushing the ball downfield more frequently. The former Chief also anticipates a bounce-back season for Travis Kelce, suggesting that previous concerns about the tight end’s production were overblown.

McCoy’s message is clear: Kansas City thrives when counted out. Reid and Mahomes have built their reputations on proving doubters wrong, and this season appears no different.

Meanwhile, the Chargers face their own challenges heading into the opener. Starting right guard Mekhi Becton has been added to the injury report due to illness and is questionable to play.

The Chiefs also have injury concerns, with rookie wide receiver Jalen Royals and defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott. Still, most of Reid’s roster practiced fully this week, giving Kansas City better health heading into the international opener.

As the kickoff approaches in Brazil, both teams carry questions into this unique setting. But if McCoy’s assessment proves accurate, Reid’s quiet frustration and Mahomes’ championship experience could make the difference. Will test whether the Chiefs can use doubt again as their greatest weapon.
