CeeDee Lamb Injury Update: Why Did Cowboys Superstar Head to Medical Tent in 4th Quarter vs. Eagles?

The Dallas Cowboys team might have lost more than a game against the Eagles as CeeDee Lamb was taken to the medical tent in the 4th quarter.

It’s been a rough outing for superstar Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. After an exceptional first quarter that directly resulted in two touchdowns for his team, Lamb made costly mistakes with key drops late in the game. However, the fan base’s fury quickly turned into anguish as the four-time Pro Bowler was taken out of the game.

What Happened to CeeDee Lamb?

On the final drive, Lamb made two costly drops with two catchable balls thrown by quarterback Dak Prescott. It effectively spelled the end of the game as the Eagles hung on for a 24-20 victory.

However, immediately after the possession, the three-time All-Pro selection was taken into the blue medical tent. There was no immediate update on the situation, as his injury and status for the game and beyond remain a mystery.

But on replaying the final play made on a fourth down, chances were dropping down on the ball was the cause of his injury. It’s a brutal situation for the Cowboys who will be closely monitoring the situation around one of the best weapons in the entire league.

Obviously, any long-term injury to Lamb would be devastating for the Cowboys’ offense. His 13 targets led the team, and his 29% target share was the third-highest in the NFL last season.

Lamb is coming off a slightly down season due to injuries (81.4, a grade of B- in PFSN’s WR Impact Score). However, there’s no doubt he’s one of the elite wideouts when healthy, as he recorded a 92.3 (A-) grade in 2023, fourth-best among WRs that season.

Even in this game, where he struggled during the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter, he finished with seven receptions for 110 yards. However, that number could have neared the 200-yard mark, leading to a few disappointed faces for fantasy teams.

Lamb’s Fantasy Impact

It’s never fun to see your first-round wide receiver head to the medical tent. However, there’s no cause for concern here. Lamb will be fine.

It was a strong opener from a fantasy perspective. Lamb dominated targets, looking completely unaffected by George Pickens’ presence. If anything, the threat posed by Pickens opened up Lamb to see more single coverage.

The Cowboys’ WR1 delivered for fantasy managers with seven receptions for 100 yards. While no one is complaining about 18 fantasy points from any player, especially without a touchdown, it’s hard not to lament over what could have been. Lamb left at least 80 yards on the field between drops and would-be big plays.

He had a brutal drop that essentially ended the game on a perfectly thrown ball from Dak Prescott late in the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, if this is what a middling game from Lamb looks like, fantasy managers have to be excited.

The big advantage for Dallas is that he will have 10 days to recover. As a result, expect Lamb to be out there when the Cowboys look to get into the win column in Week 2.
