What Was the Dallas Cowboys’ Decision on Jaydon Blue for the Season Opener Against the Eagles?

As reported by Joe Machota, “Cowboys rookie RB Jaydon Blue is inactive for tonight’s game,” effectively rendering him a healthy scratch for the season opener.

This means the Cowboys will be without their 2025 fifth-round pick. Blue was drafted with the expectation that he could be a speedy breakaway threat out of the backfield.

He dealt with a heel issue during the preseason and suffered an ankle sprain in the Cowboys’ final game against the Atlanta Falcons. There is no word yet on whether that factored into the Cowboys’ decision to sit Blue against the Eagles.

In the wake of Blue sitting out, Dallas fans shared their reactions.

One sarcastically said, “Whew. A healthy scratch.”

The sarcasm continued with another fan saying, “Miles Sanders” over Blue ok.”

Another fan predicted, “We getting a full game of Javonte Williams against the Eagles D…”

This fan didn’t hold back and called the Cowboys a “stupid franchise.”

Still another predicted ineptitude from the running game, posting, “OMFG lmao this team is sooooooo god damn stupid Miles or javonte finna combine for 2.8 ypc lmao.”

Another fan added: “LOL zero chance of a run game tonight that’s fun.”

And one reacted to Blue’s absence with a Peter Griffin temper tantrum: “WHATTTT.”

Following in the footsteps of other posters, one fan said, “unserious team,” while another seemed resigned to their fate, saying, “Ain’t no way, bruh.”

With Blue inactive, the Cowboys are expected to rely on Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders against a stacked Eagles defense.

Joining Blue on the inactive list is rookie running back Phil Mafah, who was placed on injured reserve in late August. Mafah will miss at least four games with a shoulder injury.
