Tennessee Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley carries a “questionable” injury designation heading into Week 1, but fantasy football managers shouldn’t be concerned about his availability. The veteran receiver has dealt with minor issues throughout training camp, but nothing that threatens his status for the season opener against the Denver Broncos. Here’s what you need to know about Ridley’s situation and his fantasy outlook.
Is Calvin Ridley Playing Week 1?
To be perfectly candid, it’s unclear why Ridley even has a questionable tag on most fantasy platforms. He’s not dealing with any significant injury that would impact his Week 1 availability. Throughout training camp, Ridley missed some practices due to what the Titans have described as “general soreness,” but this is standard maintenance for a veteran player.
Head coach Brian Callahan confirmed over the weekend that Ridley is “on pace to be ready for Week 1 against the Broncos,” indicating there’s no real concern about his status. The team has been cautious with the 30-year-old receiver throughout the summer, understanding that he doesn’t need every single rep to be ready for the regular season.

At one point during training camp, Ridley walked off the field due to right calf cramping, but wide receiver coach Tyke Tolbert confirmed it was nothing more than cramps. The veteran has otherwise been healthy throughout offseason practice and training camp, building chemistry with rookie quarterback Cam Ward.
For a player of Ridley’s experience and age, the team is far more concerned with keeping him fresh for when games actually count. The “soreness” that has occasionally limited his practice participation is routine maintenance rather than any injury concern that would threaten his availability or production.
Ridley’s Fantasy Football Outlook
Ridley may feel as if he’s been in the NFL for a decade, but this is only his 30th season, and he enters it as the clear-cut WR1 in an offense that believes it has landed its franchise quarterback.
It’s an easy case to make for Ridley to post 1,000 yards for the fourth time in five seasons and hit seven scores for the fifth time in his career, but I’m proceeding with caution. The fact of the matter is that we have no idea what the target distribution will look like in Tennessee under Cam Ward, and that’s even more so the case against a Denver unit that earned top marks in our Defense+ grading metric in 2024.

You don’t have to plug in Ridley this week in a perfect world. I like the idea of playing him at a very low ownership number in the DFS streets, understanding that this is a tough matchup. However, even tough matchups get busted from time to time (Denver was one of two defenses in 2024 to allow multiple 40-point games to an opposing WR).
The Broncos allowed the fifth-lowest touchdown pass rate last season, probably making Ward’s NFL debut one to forget. That’s why I’m benching him in all season-long formats, taking only GPP shots if I want to leverage the game theory side of that game.
