Caleb Holt, the highly regarded five-star prospect from the 2026 class, completed his official visit to Arkansas from Aug. 29 to 31. The trip quickly drew attention from current and former Razorbacks, creating buzz around Calipari’s recruiting efforts.

The visit sparked a reaction from former Arkansas standout Thiero, who commented “yup yup” on Holt’s Instagram post showcasing him in a Razorback uniform.

Following the visit, Holt described the weekend atmosphere with enthusiasm.

“It’s been a great vibe. You know, it was our first football game, so they was out here. It was a great experience,” he said.

The trip gave him extended time with Calipari, which he emphasized as a key component of his visit.

“Coach Cal, we got to talk a lot this weekend. We ate a lot of food together, so we had a lot of basketball conversations,” Holt explained.

What Leadership Role Does John Calipari Envision for Holt?

Calipari’s vision for Holt’s role should he commit to Arkansas was central to those conversations. The coach made his expectations clear from the start.

“If I come here, he look for me to be a leader,” Holt noted, pointing to Calipari’s reputation with one-and-done players.

Holt also detailed his impression of Arkansas practices, where he witnessed firsthand the intensity Calipari demands from his players.

“The practice was intense. Coach Cal holds his guys accountable because he wants them to be the best,” Holt said. He observed how the team “got a lot of shots up” and executed a “fast offense,” which aligns with his own up-tempo style.

Beyond basketball, his weekend included time with Anthony Black, a former Razorback now in the NBA, whom Holt had previously known. “This weekend I got to talk to him a good bit about Arkansas and everything,” Holt said.

Holt’s recruitment has been closely followed, particularly as he prepares for his senior season at Prolific Prep, which recently relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He previously played at Grayson High in Georgia and began at Buckhorn High in Alabama.

In an earlier interview with Rivals, he laid out what he values most in a program:

“I want them to actually need me. I want to have somewhere I can get loose and play my game. A coach that’s gonna let me defend and… showcase.”

His words reflect not only his skill but also his search for the right environment, one Calipari believes Arkansas can provide. With Thiero’s endorsement and the positive energy from his visit, Holt appears to be seriously considering making Fayetteville his college home.
