Nick Saban Announced as Major Guest on College Football and NFL Talk Show

Former Alabama HC Nick Saban has been announced as a weekly guest on a top college and NFL talk show for the entire 2025 football season.

Nick Saban’s legendary coaching career ended in 2023 following Alabama’s loss to the eventual champion Michigan Wolverines in the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal game.

After retiring, Saban quickly transitioned into media, becoming a regular on ESPN’s “College GameDay.” Now, he is expanding his TV presence by joining a prominent talk show every Friday during the college football season.

Nick Saban to Appear Weekly on College Football and NFL Talk Show

At first glance, Saban might not seem like a natural fit for college football media, but the more fans watch him, the more they enjoy his presence. The legendary head coach brings a dry sense of humor, quick wit, and, most importantly, deep knowledge of the game, making him a strong addition to “College GameDay.”

But now, fans won’t just see Saban on College GameDay this season. ESPN personality and “Pat McAfee Show” host Pat McAfee announced today that the former Alabama coach will also appear on his show every Friday during the college football season.

Saban and McAfee may seem like polar opposites, but the seven-time national championship-winning head coach has long been willing to appear on McAfee’s show, even during his coaching days. The two are even reportedly good friends.

During Alabama’s 2023 season, Saban appeared on the show every Thursday. In 2024, his first year of retirement, he frequently appeared on the program.

Now, Saban will appear on the Pat McAfee Show every Friday this season to discuss college football, and the following day, he and McAfee will host College GameDay together.

Few voices in college football carry more weight than Saban’s. He began coaching in 1973 as a graduate assistant at Kent State, where he played football and baseball, and continued through 2023. He’s been the head coach at Toledo, Michigan State, LSU, the Miami Dolphins, and finally Alabama, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest football minds of all time.

College football fans enjoy hearing the legend share his opinions on everything from game predictions to the current landscape of college football, including issues with NIL and the transfer portal. His weekly appearances on the “Pat McAfee Show” will give him even more time to do just that.

Saban made his first appearance of the year on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Friday, August 29, ahead of college football Week 1. Tomorrow, on Saturday, August 30, he and McAfee will be in Columbus, Ohio, for “College GameDay’s” season opener.

They and the rest of the “GameDay” crew will preview the top-three matchup between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, along with the rest of the packed week one slate, including a final sendoff for legendary analyst and former coach Lee Corso, who is retiring from broadcasting.
