Trinity Rodman has captured hearts both on and off the soccer field. The 23-year-old Olympic gold medalist is making waves as one of America’s top soccer talents and tennis star Ben Shelton’s devoted girlfriend.
The daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, Trinity has carved her path to greatness while building a loving relationship with the rising tennis champion.
How Did Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman Make Their Relationship Official?
Ben Shelton and Trinity Rodman first sparked romance rumors in early March 2025 after participating in a TikTok trend about “shooting their shot” with each other. The couple made it official on March 17, 2025, when Shelton shared an Instagram post featuring a mirror selfie with Rodman in an elevator. Confirming their relationship to the world, the soccer star commented, “Shooters shoot, I guess.”
Just ten days later, Rodman posted her own soft launch with a photo of her gazing up at Shelton, captioning it simply, “Dibs.” While tennis pro Frances Tiafoe initially claimed he introduced the pair, both Shelton and Rodman quickly denied his account. Rodman told ESPN, “I can assure you Frances was not the reason we met or got together.”

Their relationship has blossomed despite the challenges of being professional athletes in different sports. “It has its challenges, but it’s definitely worth it,” Shelton once said in an interview.
Rodman’s support for Shelton is unwavering, even with their demanding schedules. After the Washington Spirit’s 3-2 victory over Bay FC in San Francisco, she immediately took an overnight flight to New York to support him at the US Open. “My girlfriend took the red-eye from California last night to be here,” Shelton proudly told the crowd after his first-round victory.
Throughout 2025, Rodman attended major tournaments, including Wimbledon and the US Open, often wearing shirts with Shelton’s face. She even appeared surprised at one of his US Open press conferences, playfully questioning why he had not hit any serves over 135 mph.
What Is Trinity Rodman’s Background?
Trinity Rodman was born to Michelle Moyer and Dennis Rodman on May 20, 2002, in Newport Beach, California. Her mother, a former softball athlete, became Rodman’s primary caregiver after her parents separated when she was very young.
Moyer has been Rodman’s rock throughout her life, and Trinity calls her a “role model.” In contrast, her relationship with her father, Dennis, remains strained. She once described going “months if not years without his presence or communication.”
Her older brother, DJ Rodman, who was born in 2001, followed in their father’s footsteps by pursuing a career in basketball. DJ played college basketball at Washington State and USCÂ before joining the NBA G League with the Capital City Go-Go in 2024. His sister is incredibly proud of him, writing, “So proud, it’s you time, bro bro,” when he was drafted.
Rodman began playing soccer at age four and quickly stood out for her speed and skill. At ten, she joined the elite SoCal Blues club, where she won four national championships. In 2021, at 18 years old, she became the youngest player ever drafted in NWSL history when the Washington Spirit selected her second overall.
She made her U.S. Women’s National Team debut on the international stage in February 2022. Later that year, the American scored her first goal and became known for her confident play and high work rate. She enjoyed a breakout season in 2024, scoring key goals and providing crucial assists.
At the Paris Olympics, she scored three goals, including a dramatic extra-time winner against Japan that helped the U.S. win the gold medal.
Seeing Rodman in the stands supporting Shelton during his matches is always a fun sight for fans. The sixth seed at the US Open is now set to face Adrian Mannarino in his third-round match on Friday, August 29, with Rodman expected to cheer him on for every point.
