Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Makes Feelings Clear on Micah Parsons’ Agent After Trading All-Pro to Packers

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones reveals his true feelings about Micah Parsons’ agent after a months-long saga.

One of the most perplexing parts of the Micah Parsons situation, even before the trade went through, was the apparent vitriol from Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones toward Parsons’ agent. Throughout the process, Jones seemed vehemently opposed to negotiating with the agent rather than the player. That stance even led to some unsavory comments from the owner of one of the most storied franchises in American sports.

While not the final straw, those comments may have played a role in the shocking conclusion, as the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. After the deal was finalized, Jones revealed his opinion about Parsons’ agent during an exclusive press conference.

Jerry Jones Changes Tune About Micah Parsons’ Agent

During the negotiations, Jones claimed he had already reached an agreement directly with Parsons. However, the four-time Pro Bowler insisted that nothing would be official until his agent, David Mulugheta, signed off.

Jones wasn’t willing to play along. In several scathing remarks that bordered on demeaning, he refused to engage with Mulugheta, in clear disregard for NFLPA standards.

At one point, Jones even claimed the veteran agent told him to stick the agreement he had with Parsons “up his a**.” That remark pushed an already tense situation into ugly territory. But now that the trade is complete, Jones’ tone has shifted.

Asked at the press conference how the episode might affect his relationship with Mulugheta, Jones deflected.

“He’s not that fragile,” Jone said. “Let me tell you something, you can’t do that stuff and business like this and be fragile.” He then appeared to take a subtle shot at the agent, as Ian Rapoport reported on X.

“I would think with his background, he’s very professional and willing to keep his eye on the ball and not get caught up in the emotions,” Jones added.

With Mulugheta’s client list, he and Jones will inevitably cross paths again. Wide receiver George Pickens, acquired in another offseason trade this summer, could be in line for an extension next year — and Mulugheta will once again be at the center of negotiations.
